MaxPreps Top 20 Most Dominant KY High School Football Teams Since 2004

Featured Replies

MaxPreps has been around for a decade now, so they compiled a list of the top 20 most dominant football programs around the commonwealth since they began compiling data.

Top Five Are:

1. Trinity (Louisville) - 464 points

Overall record: 120-21

Over the past 10 years, Trinity has captured seven state championships and claimed the No. 1 ranking seven times. The Shamrocks have missed the Top 5 just once since 2004.

2. Highlands (Fort Thomas) - 445

Overall record: 131-15

Highlands won six straight state championships from 2007-12, piling up up six Top 5 finishes and three undefeated seasons in the same period. They have totaled seven state championships.

3. St. Xavier (Louisville) - 319

Overall record: 111-26

Despite finishing in the Top 5 in 10 consecutive years, the Tigers have won just two state championships since 2004.

4. Bowling Green - 291

Overall record: 123-16

Three straight state championship victories from 2011-13 helped Bowling Green cap undefeated seasons in each of those years. They also have six Top 10 finishes since 2004.

5. Newport Central Catholic - 242

Overall record: 113-32

Since 2004 the Thoroughbreds have been in seven state championship bouts, coming out the victor four times and finishing as the runner-up another three.

Rut Row Scraggy, the Simon Kenton haters are not going to be happy.

19. Meade County (Brandenburg) - 95

Overall record: 68-54

Although the Green Waves have only landed in the Top 25 rankings three times since 2004, they claimed a 2A state title in 2006.

Huh. You'd think I'd remember that.

No real surprises, makes for good debate.

LOL. They'll see the light eventually. Everyone has their own breaking points. :thumb:

Lexington Catholic has 3 titles in the last 10 years?

Wait...I thought some of you guys said New Cath and Beechwood weren't very good.

Scott County won in 2004?

:lol2: Looks like MaxPreps needs to do a little fact-finding and proofreading. Lexington Catholic has 2 titles...period, and it should say "An undefeated season in 2013 gave Scott County its first state championship appearance since 2004..."

I think an arguement could be made for Owensboro Catholic. They were 91-41 over that time period with 3 appearances in the championship game.

I agree.

5th in NKY sounds about right over the period.

I think the NKY haters would not be very happy with 5 of the 20 coming from the area and 2 of the top 5!

Told you so........
