Sounds good to me. Basketball plays in the Winter, Summer leagues when it's hot, and in fall the same time football is going on.

 

Moral of the story, don't trust anyone that plays with round balls.

Remember when everyone in the state had an open week the week prior to the playoffs? I found that more beneficial, to heal and prepare for a team that you probably never saw before. I say play two scrimmages to prepare, play 10 games, take a week off, and start the playoffs.

 

Put me in the "bye week late in the season" camp.

I do not like bye weeks, I like a routine.

Fairly sure BYE is #2 in the NKY Top 10.

 

From what I gather reading on here BYE played Simon Kenton really tight at the end of the year. Highlands had a similar tussle a few weeks earlier with BYE, but Highlands was totally healthy at the time and SK was healing wounds getting ready for the playoffs and didn't want to show anything.

 

Fairly sure SK would have beat BYE by at least 3 TD's if they played them when Highlands did.

You forgot that Bye has a lot of D1 talent and a weak schedule.

I don't remember that. Was it during the 70s and 80s when there were sub-districts? I know that some sub-district champions were playing the first round of the playoffs while schools in a full district (no sub) were playing their last game of the season. I don't ever recall a situation where there was a mandatory bye week before the playoffs.

It was when only the top two teams in each district made the playoffs, mid/late 80's.

I care about other sports nada. When basketball got the month of June and started playing games 11 months a year I stopped caring if football interferes with basketball.

 

Football is the only sport that is limited for players.

 

Why not start spring football? We could completely eliminate basketball? Nothing better than year round football.

I like the way Collins sets up their bye week each year. It is usually towards the middle of the year, right before they go into district play. They play 3-4 games against teams from higher classes to start out the year and then take a week off. That way they are well tested and are able to rest up before district play begins.
