Any time i ever saw Highlands play Ashland, their fans and players displayed good sportsmanship. If Ncc starts losing or gets a few bad calls, wait until Ashland gets a dose of angry Nccfan. The screaming and yelling is unbelievable.

There is typically a reason for that though. For decades now Ashland has had a bit of a knack for deciding not to renew series when they were down or other teams were up.

If you say so. Typically Ashlands out of district schedule includes the same local NEKY teams and Ironton, they alternate a top tier WV team and usually a SEKY team once contracts expire. So if what you say is true either they schedule really well or they get lucky every once in a while, catching a team when its down. Either way they play one of the toughest schedules east of Lexington, year in and year out.

I don't believe people across the state dislike Ashland, but with the exception of Raceland fans, I don't believe there are many in NEKY that like the Tomcats. They may not be a state power these days, but they are a regional power. With the exception of Jim Matney coached teams they rarely lose to anyone on this side of the state.

Historically speaking, AHS has been the dominate Eastern Ky school, historically that is. With Ashland's city population dwindling(over a 20-30 year period) they will never be the power they were. IMO, Johnson Central has been the top program over a 10 year period. I would say that beating AHS by any team east of Winchester would be considered a real major victory and especially so for the more local teams. AHS is solid but not spectacular and will likely never compete again with the strong NKY teams. Football is primarily a numbers game and AHS doesn't have the numbers anymore.

I completely agree, with NKY teams being as good as they are at this time, Ashland will have a hard time being a state power until they are out of that district.

As far as numbers go, its up and down year to year at Ashland, in terms of enrollment. That said, they have nearly the same number of students as the NKY 4A teams. IMO, the NKY dominance comes from the Cinci areas love for football. They have great feeder systems and coaches in place. The next couple of years Ashland will have the talent to challenge anyone in the class, whether they do or not is another story.

Highlands fans have been great in my opinion. I believe the only problem we have ever had with a NKY school was a playoff game (don't hate me if I have the wrong team) against Dixie Heights I believe. The Ashland radio crew actually induced a little panic when calling it a riot, when it was actually a couple groups of students from both schools that got in a fight. It was quickly brought under control by police, but students parents started showing up in droves thinking it was much worse than it was.

Who will be the starting QB for NCC?

????????????

Different sport but I did witness Ashland playing an entire possession in the AIT against 6 people from Warren Central. When Ashland's coach protested he received a justified technical foul for touching the official. Warren Central went on to win the game by 1 point.

My experience is that with a few exceptions, when you remove emotions from the equation most officials do a fairly decent job. With that said most regional officials tend to favor their regional team over an outside team. I could be familiarity or it could be the local coaches give them their ratings.

It's so refreshing to get a Highlands fans point of view. Loll! Your day is coming and you better be ready because it's going to get ugly. Can you hear that squeaking? That's all of you rats getting ready to jump off of that sinking ship.

Really? Many of us have been complimentary to your program. I would walk softly.

I was assuming he is an NCC guy. Hope I'm wrong!
