Manual 27 Bowling Green 0 Scrimmage

Featured Replies

I don't recall seeing anyone on BGP say they'll go undefeated. Most people on BGP are saying they won't get the streak.

Unfair to those kids? A lot is demanded and expected from every kid who attends Bowling Green from academics to athletics. Always has been always will be. As it should be.

Plenty of other schools who deserve the spotlight? Then post about those schools. Start threads about them and give them the spotlight they deserve.

I have! SW Sleeping Giants Thread and I Talk about Warren Centrals Feggins in the Mr. Football thread... When I refer to other schools deserving the spotlight, I am not just talking about this forum. I am referring to the Daily News and other media sources who are blinded to the reality that BGHS is rebuilding this year.... They are naming and dubbing players on their team as top in the State and they haven't even played significant minutes in a varsity game. C'mon! But there are as talented or more talented players on other programs in the area that are not getting the same coverage simply because they are not at BGHS.

Gotcha. I get all of my info from BGP so when I hear experts I think of all of the info shared on here.

Look Manuel is a solid team and #5 in 6A. Losing to them in a scrimmage is no big deal if they use it to get better. No one said they would go undefeated. Your right this team hasnt earned anything yet because they havent had the opportunity to. In recent past, BG has made the most of their opportunites and has earned the title of 3 time consecutive 5A State Champs. That draws some attention. Unless you like BG you probably dont like and are tired of it. I get that.

What I'm saying is keep improving the programs you like and it will take care of itself. You dont have to bash a team that is 0 and 0 on the season to prove your point.

Oh and im from BG and went to BG and many games so im not a band wagon.

Manual has been solid the last few scrimmages, but BG was just that much better. It's hard for any team to replace the type of talent and experience that BG has to replace. Coach Wallace and staff will study the film and figure out how to adjust what they are doing to get their kids in position to be a very good team. Those in Warren Co., I wouldn't get too excited about this game because I will be shocked if BG is not the best team in the area.

It's a process and the Purples know what it takes to be a great team.

Last years BG seniors were special - ever since 7th grade and maybe before that. Certainly their graduation leaves work to do but that is be expected.

Nah.... They just need to earn their stripes like everyone like everyone else. This team that they currently have has done nothing and earned nothing yet, but yet people have talked about them repeating or going undefeated again. That is unfair to those kids IMO. Like I have said before, this team will have a winning record and they will be decent, but this is not last years team! That was a special group of guys who went undefeated since middle school. And that is OK. There are plenty of other schools and players on other teams in BG that deserve the SPOTLIGHT.

It's not unfair to the kids etc. Whenever I hear a hater say "those expectations aren't fair to the kids" it's just coach speak for "I'm not a fan of the team and want them to lose"

Please don't use the lame excuses saying it isn't fair to the kids. What exactly isn't fair? It's a sport and kids want to win period. It's all fair and it doesn't bother the kids one bit.

The streak is obviously in jeopardy but don't get too excited Manual according to my source is better than last year.
Nero is talented.

The Crimsons will be third or fourth place team in the final year of the Super District. The Purples game with St. X is potentially the streak ender.

It could be argued that Manual returns as more or more than anyone in the "Super District" and it's not exactly like the others in that district just ran rough-shod over the Crimsons last year. I would hardly mark them as an underdog against a T team with a lot of unprovens, an X team with the same, and a Male team that hit on all cylinders and then tripped.

After looking at their schedule, I predict the Purples go 5 and 5 maybe 6-4 with losses to...

Lexington Catholic*

Saint X

McCallie

Warren Central

Pulaski

They could potentially win against Lex Cath...

Talked to one of BG coaches today at Middle Schools game (8th grade Purples are loaded!) and Coach was actually pretty confident with the Purples. Varsity Defense played very well. Kinks need worked out on offense (remember, every skill player is very green this year) but is a challenge they are willing to face.

You can read my posts from last couple of years of me saying this years team may have some struggles but give them 1O games and not many 5a teams will want to play them. I promise they won't want to play them in a few years.

I beg to differ. The first game was 38-30 Trinity. The playoff tilt was 49-20 in favor of the Rocks. Manual simply does not play their best versus Trinity. :idunno:

It is sad to see the Super District disbanded in 2015, just when it became competitive. :thumb:

I only need for BG to drop one of the first 6.

My faith and belief in BG defeating Warren Central and winning a 4th straight state title has not wavered because of this scrimmage.
