There it is...how in the world did you know that. I just stumbled on it researching another possible question this morning, even then it took me a while to track down which pitcher it was.

Harris did it against the Reds I think. Not sure though. " Campy" Campaneris , who once played all nine positions, I believe pitched both lefty and righty as well. He was something else.

He also had games finish in less than two hours. I think one was about 90 or 100 minutes.

Ted Williams lost to Dimagio the year of the Streak versus the Triple Crown, there has always been controversy over that season. Is that it?

To be fair, his (.343) average was the lowest of any Triple Crown winner up to that point, (32) HR's were the 3rd lowest since 1910 and his (114) RBI's were lowest in modern history for a 3C winner.

 

Yeah I would have given it to him also that year, but this probably wasn't even one of his top 7 or 8 seasons. Ted set the bar so high that 47 was kind of a ho-hum year for him.

 

Teddy Ball Game is far and away my favorite Red Sox player.
