Ryle should be much improved but it will be hard to develop a quarterback to run a new offense in one summer. Ryle will win more games this year but lets see how they look on the field instead of a record on paper. I have thought that Ryle had great potential for its athletic program, although I am not at all saying its program is bad. As of last year, Ryle had the second most boys in NKY. They had something like 15 less boys than SK so they are basically tied for 1st. The finally have a good foundation in their feeder program and have a very talented group of sophomores. Ryle also draws a good portion of its students from one of the wealthier parts of NKY. I think Ryle is setting itself up for a good amount of success down the road.

I'd like to see Ryle be competitive again. Takes the fun out of it when they are as down as they have been over the past 3-4 years.

However, I still have them as the favorite in the district, because they can out athlete teams on offense with short passes and will be physical and tough upfront to force teams to respect their balance. Their passing game will not be very dynamic and stretch teams down the field but they will be efficient and stretch teams sideline to sideline.

Juniors and sophomore have been the best groups they have had as classes go, judged by wins and losses and total numbers of athletes in those groups. They have been very good as they came up in 7th,8th 9th and now they will mostly all be on varsity. I think the next two years will be full of growth and a good period the Raiders.

I've seen the about to be 10th graders dismantle everyone they've encountered. I know there has been a problem with the growth and development of similar teams in the past as they grow into varsity. I don't see that happening with this group.

 

Sure am glad Dixie will be moving into 5A in 2015 so we can play Highlands and Covcath in district…

Cue barber shop from "Coming to America"….they whooped: SK and Dixie. I was at both games. Can't speak for the Boone County or Campbell games but have a hunch as to how that went down. So I'm an objective fan giving respect to a freshmen team that performed well.

Favorite in the district? That is one heck of a leap. If Ryle wins the district, Engler might be coach of the year in KY - yes, I said KY, not just N. Ky. Ryle has 2 district wins in the last 2 years.

The demise of Ryle football the past few years was in part to the "Daddy ball" that will not work at any level. It doesn't work at the youth level and it sure doesn't work at the high school level. Also, being one dimensional by trying to run the ball everyplay isn't going to sustain long drives. I think the former coach has a large amount of football talent that allowed him to get away with that to a certain extent, but once that group graduated, the current talent couldn't win with that scheme. The talent has picked up some but it will be interesting to see what kind of scheme Ryle will run. Hopefully they will develope a QB that will be able to throw the ball enough to keep teams from stacking 9 in the box. This 6A district will be competitive and I don't know if Ryle is ready climb the mountain yet to win the district. But that is why they play the games. We will see.

Nope. Engler H.C. and ARVIN O.C. are new, Belk is not back and the rest of the staff is back with another addition that I forget his name but he is the strength and conditioning coach. The Offense is be handled by Engler and Arvin. Woolf is the D.C.
