Nope. Engler H.C. and ARVIN O.C. are new, Belk is not back and the rest of the staff is back with another addition that I forget his name but he is the strength and conditioning coach. The Offense is be handled by Engler and Arvin. Woolf is the D.C.

 

So it's the same staff. Engler replaced Warner. Arvin went to OC & Harden went back to defense. Belk is the only other coach not on staff.

I think Ryle has a lot to prove this year in order to back up some of these comments about their impending success.

Cue barber shop from "Coming to America"….they whooped: SK and Dixie. I was at both games. Can't speak for the Boone County or Campbell games but have a hunch as to how that went down. So I'm an objective fan giving respect to a freshmen team that performed well.

No team last year @ the freshman level was close all year except for the championship game. The offense was very conservative that night as they beat CCH by 3 TD's a couple weeks before that night. If they would have let it loose, they would have scored as many as they wanted. They scored something like 450 points and their opponents scored about 50 on the season, so I would say dismantling is a closer discription than just "good". Plantman must not have seen them play.

I was really thinking Ryle would be a good early season test for Scott County on the road with returning 20 or more seniors and 30 or more juniors... but reading through this has me thinking otherwise.

Sounds like your a fan so I won't get too wound up with the blowhard statement "if they would have let it loose, they would have scored as many as they wanted"- so let me assure you that Ryle was "letting it loose" and as it was, they had to come back in the last few minutes to win 17-14.

Using your logic, if CCH hadn't overthrown @ 6 seam passes over the top, they probably would have won it by a couple TD's. But I don't play that game as I thought Ryle was overall the better team last year. Not by much- but they were. Time will tell if playing all those players on both sides of the ball as Frosh will pan out.

These teams roll up big scores, and big expectations for varsity, but, thus far, it has not translated to varsity success.

However, in fairness, Scott County has way too much team speed for any team in NKy 6A to cope with. Only Highlands in this area would be competitive with Scott County.

I guess you guys wont listen or won't comprehend the fact that the culture has changed. While we have retained some good qualified coaches, the program is being ran differently. All the kids get reps in practice they are all being developed. This system is not being set up to have one superstar I.E. Elliot, carry the team. Engler is very capable, and well aware of the importance of developing the underclassmen. Ryle for the most part has always had talent here, just like all the other schools have it. They were underdeveloped and under coached. Poor offensive philosophy and unpleasant playing conditions were contributors to the spiral down. There was a reason Warner lost his job. Do you think they would hire a coach to do the same things? The talent is there to win now. Don't be surprised when it happens. Just remember we told you so.

EVERBODY, starts the year 0-0. last year doesn't count for or against you. No one has to live up to or overcome anything. You only have to play now.

Well after this comment, clearly you are a fan. And apparently a fan who has no idea what's going on. You can not tell me that Ryle held back. You ask any player or coach on Any team and they will tell you it was a hard fought game and well worth the price of admission. Also, Ryle Secondary was not better than CCH's WR core, CVH just had no time to throw the ball. Your DLine brought the pressure, not the CB. But let's not forget, it was a FRESHMAN game and really has no meaning now. It will be interesting to see how many players step and play varsity this year. Good to luck to Ryle!

It was a great game and both teams did play their tails off. I dont think that Ryle held back as far as effort. CCH was a great team! Cole did have time to throw on occasions and their receivers were covered. Have to give credit where it is due. I know it was a hard pill to swallow but Ryle skill players were better, including their receivers, corners, and QB. I am not taking away from CCH players at all but our kids could have scored much more points if we would have used the entire playbook. CCH corners were giving about a 10-12 yard cushion on many of the formations and Ryle was content with running the football and the clock. Look at the film. It does not lie. I guess you are so knowledgeable that you are the authority on who knows football and who does not.
