That's a downright disrespectful statement to make. Fred Bernier has only lost 2 games in two years since taking over. He is a one heck of a coach, and has been coaching longer than most of us have been alive. I don't care who the man is coaching for, he has earned and deserves some respect. Dissing RYLE as usual is one thing. Making a personal statement or attack like that is out of line.

FTN ... no one is dissing Ryle. No one is dissing Bernier. No one hates Ryle. Ryle has been off the grid for two years so no one cares enough to hate them. That is the simple truth. All the comments you take as hate are directed at fans of Ryle who act like changing their head coach made them a team everyone should "fear". It doesn't work that way. No one has high expectations for Ryle because no one has seen anything at the varsity level in the past 2 years that warrants high expectations. No one will be shocked if Ryle does have a good year because they have been that good in the past and there should be enough talent to be good again, but it is a show me approach for all of us. You are buying the uk#1fan like punch, Ryle flavor, but because the rest of us aren't drinking along with you don't call us haters.

I said last year that we may be a year or two from a turn around. So while last year was no real surprise, this year won't be either. I'm not drinking the kool-aid. What I've chosen to do is evaluate the teams chemistry, it's new leadership, the infuse of talent from the upcoming junior class and sophomore class, along with the new offensive scheme, ( which by the way is nothing like the last couple years). This gives me much higher expectations. The bonus is that these kids have outperformed aside from a few hick ups, their peers in their age groups since 8th grade. We have some underused talent from the junior class who I believe will blow up this year. I have been around football since I was 9 years old, played college ball, and coached. I'm not your typical blind dad-0-fan. The talent is there and I believe Engler has the team going in the right direction. That being said we have nothing to lose and everything to prove. I do know that these young men have a chip on their shoulders about being dismissed as losers and will fight to prove otherwise. Ryle may not take NKY by storm but NO-ONE will roll over them. 6-4 or 7-3 regular season remember I said it!

5-5, even 4-6 would be a major step forward.

I think we will surprise and upset a few teams. 6-4 is probably more realistic, but I can see 7-3. It's definitely a tough schedule but 6a is for the big boys. Hey I'll take 5-5, but I absolutley think this group can achieve more. If you want my personal opinion ( don't care if you do I'm giving it anyway. lol ) next year being the second year in the system... This team will be hard to beat. They will win the district and probably be playing football pretty late in the season.

Agree...and that 5th win will be a challenge. I'm sure Ryle will be much better, and I agree they have a solid core of talent, but I will be shocked if they are contending for a District title in 2014.

Folks in Union need some w's to start feeling good about their team and get some heat off this new coaching staff. This is a schedule for a program contending for a state title.

Agree to disagree. I think that you are sending a message of submission if you are scheduling teams you know you can beat. Where is the challenge in not losing a game you shouldn't lose. If you goal is to be a middle of the road team, then yes schedule a couple Jv teams. If you want to challenge yourself, your teammates and get better, here is your schedule. I would rather take my losses and learn, than take an easy win and know nothing more about us. As a coach I always learned more about my scheme, my personnel, and myself by an evaluation after a loss. Confidence is built from the coach and the upperclassmen, not creampuffs. Competition is not for the weak or the meek, but for the strong and the strong willed.
