Love me some Carson Williams!!!!

Anyone have stats?

You must be a little confused. Quan Claitt tied the game in regulation with a last second inbounds and oop and then in the third overtime Jaylin White hit a long three point jumper at the buzzer. Lextown Ballerz won by 3. I'm sorry you missed that last part of the game. It was very exciting.

Crap, you know what... I may very well be confused then. Were they down 5 at the end of the 3rd quarter then? I must have walked away then thinking that was the game. They must have really been behind time-wise then, because my son's team is in the same pool and we played on the court right next to you. Both games were supposed to start at the same time. My bad... congrats on the win! Sounds like I missed a good one!

Good to see Jake Thelen coaching.

I am just a parent of 1 of the players..... My initial guess would be this team started 9 years ago on AAU circuit with a 6 place national finish (4th grade), and coach wanted to end with another deep run in nationals. Once bracket play starts, their should be quality competition to push the kids. All the kids on the team are getting looked at for the next level, so nothing is really lost or gained by playing the Nationals.

I would have thought that the kids would want to play in the best division to measure themselves rather than try to win in a lower division. I noticed Hoop Dreams are playing in the Super Showcase, so I thought the Ville would play in that division also.

My apologies I was thinking the ville for some odd reason.

In my opinion I think it was a matter of wanting to play more games and have an actual shot at winning. I think they (the ville) knew that if they played in the showcase they could lose in the first or second round opposed to having at shot at winning nationals. Also with the the showcase some of those squads go and grab the best players from their respective states who hadn't been playing with that team.

Well, I guess to each his own. I just think doing it this way you still won't KNOW where you actually stand even if you win nationals at a lower level. I mean, from what I have read you have some REALLY good players so why sell yourself short.

In reality, pool games in both tournaments are not competitive. Bracket play is where the quality play happens. The Ville game today was loaded with coaches and spectators, so kids are still being looked at. This is the kids last tournament together as The Ville, and they are going to enjoy every moment of it. I believe the coaches knows where this team stands, now they are just playing nationals to represent the state. Arkansas Wings is also playing the Nationals, they are a top team in the country, so things will really work out well. Nobody is selling themselves short.

Shining Star - Price up 36-19 over Lextown Ballerz at the half.

Shining Star 64-32 after 3

Talked to him before his game. Great young man! He'll make a super coach one day if that's his goal.
