TheVille 2015 is playing both The Nationals, Gold Showcase. Very busy weekend for the boys but also a great opportunity to end their AAU season with some quality competition.

Correction now playing in nationals vs showcase (NCAA rules on number of games allowed)... Not sure why, but should make a run for national....

Yes the teams are better in the showcase as a whole.... There are some great teams in the Nationals but just not a deep.

I am just a parent of 1 of the players..... My initial guess would be this team started 9 years ago on AAU circuit with a 6 place national finish (4th grade), and coach wanted to end with another deep run in nationals. Once bracket play starts, their should be quality competition to push the kids. All the kids on the team are getting looked at for the next level, so nothing is really lost or gained by playing the Nationals.

NCAA rules say kids can only play 5 games in every 2 day period. So it's very hard for a program to play both events and advance very far before running into eligibility issues with the 5 game rule.

I would have thought with their roster playing the best competition would overshadow a trophy. You now have a top 30 player who signed with UL.

 

A lot if teams where complaining about all the press EYBL teams were getting and this seems like a perfect opportunity to see where you stack up?

I agree.... The Ville did receive a lot of press in the Adidas Invitational (final 4 finish, lost to winner). And during the Peach State Summer Showcase in Augusta Georgia (they lost to eventual runner up). Not to mention a tournament in Columbus over the 4th of July they participated. The Nationals seems to be stretched over 5 days where as the showcase is over 3 days. with all the traveling recently, this would allow the kids to enjoy themselves.

Bulldogs got a game 1 win over Martin Brothers (Iowa). Bulldogs off to a hot start offensively and the game turned into a defensive battle in the second half. Bulldogs win by 3. Quite a few coaches watching on "coaches row."
