I've been several times, most miserable place I ever visited...I'd take Dallas, San Antonio and NOLA in that area over Houston. That said I was on business trips and didn't get to experience the city like a local but it was the same in the other cities and I found them much more visitor friendly. It has been over 10 years since I was there, so it has to be some better by now.

I can see that. Houston isn't very touristy, but when it comes to living in a suburb, it's much nicer than San Antonio for sure. Houston being so spread out probably has a lot to do with it too. I can't really think of anything touristy to do there, definitely not like there is in San Antonio, but on the whole, it's just nicer for day-to-day stuff from what I've gathered.

Hahaha... most everyone just says avoid it, so I don't really count it. They say horrible beaches and awful crime.

I've been once, it was August. If I go back it won't be in august.

I've only been to the airport, and getting out of that thing is a circus. Worst in the country and most dangerous, IMO.
