Riverbend questions 2014

Featured Replies

Tailgated across the street for Tim McGraw. They will walk around and id everyone.

I'm pretty sure they are still the same in Coney Island's lot to the right of the park when looking at the main entrance.

They make the Riverbend experience unbearable. I haven't been back in more than a decade and don't feel I've missed a thing. What uptight jerks.

I was just happy to have a ride home from someone else that night haha!

Glad you had a ride home because if not....

And as for getting out of Riverbend this year, I've gone to two concerts (Zach Brown Band and Tim McGraw). I have absolutely zero idea how long it took to get out of ZBB as I was on a party bus and didn't pay attention to any traffic/time issues.

As for the Tim McGraw concert, I was on the highway within 5 minutes of getting to my car. I had parked in the Coney lot I believe (when I got off the highway I made the first right and looped through the woods to the lot). Being that I was parked in the row closest to the highway, while everyone else was trying to get out the main gate, I went out the same way I got in and was out right away.

Another thing many people fail to realize when exiting the lot is that you can get to 275 by going both left and right. I've seen many people turn right only to do a U turn back left halfway down the road (causing traffic to back up even more going west on Kellog) when the ramp to 275 was just a bit further down the road.

FYI to those that do not know.

Great advice and something that I've used many times when leaving Riverbend.

Park in the lot on the left side of the street instead of the Riverbend lot. And try to park near the back. You'll be out in half hour at most if you do it right. And you're allowed to drink as you please over there.

I went to a concert there last year, parked at Coney Island. I was back on the interstate 15 minutes after getting to my car. As Clyde said, leave as soon as it's over, walk with a purpose, and park somewhere smart and you can get out quick.

I went last night and was almost an hour leaving the parking lot. I didn't have much of a choice where to park... An officer directed me to a lane and they were guiding cars to spots from that point. It was a terrible experience.

Beyond parking, I think that will be my last Riverbend show. I appreciate the security, but it seems like there's an usher for every attendee. You have to show your ticket every time you move. The audio is always so low that you can hear all the side conversations around you. They're more strict about curfew than any other venue I've ever been to - And I've been to several outdoor venues.

That venue more than most any other really hurts shows for me.

I, too, was at the concert last night and had no problems. I pulled into the first parking lot on the right, and did not follow the crowd. Instead, we parked in the far, back right corner of the lot. It took us about 10 - 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot, and another 5 to get onto the expressway. Some traffic, but nothing to complain about.

Went to Motley Crue on Sunday, and on our way to the car I made the decision to walk over to the casino. We spent about an hour losing money then walked back to a wide open lot. I know alot of people don't want to do this, but it was much better than sitting in traffic waiting to move 6 inches at a time.

Is the "we take ourselves far too seriously" rent-a-cop parking lot security there still as Nazi about people drinking in the lot? God how that always made me loathe the Riverbend experience.

They were busting somebody a few cars down when we got there...

I didn't intentionally follow the crowd when it comes to parking, but I generally go where a cop tells me to go.

The parking is the least of my complaints about the venue.

Riverbend sucks. Simple as that.

The show was supposed to last until 11pm. We cut off alcohol 30 minutes prior to end time. Started doing my end of night inventory at the VIP bar and heard the last song at 10:40. Was pretty surprised as all the intermission and begin times were right on schedule.

Yup, I had a full beer at 10:35 or so...
