July 1, 201412 yr I've not kept up with this case too closely (or read all of the discussion on here)...is it Preventative Birth Control they don't want to cover or just after the fact Birth Control that they are challenging?
July 1, 201412 yr Employers are prevented from making the investment decisions for employee 401k plans, and that is a good thing. Not hypocritical at all. Now if they wanted to eliminate their 401K plan, that would be about money as I can promise you they are spending a pretty penny on the plan, just as they are on the health insurance. Since these 401K plans help the employees as they age it seems to me entirely within the Christian doctrine. If you say so. I find this no different than multi-national companies like Coca-Cola — who historically has presented an image of inclusion/diversity — who caught hell for investments in South Africa during the apartheid period. Don't call yourself Christian if you support non-Christian things. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, when you hold yourself up as "Christian," you better have a higher standard than the rest of the corporate world.

One of the main themes of the presidential election of '16 will be "men deciding what form of health care women are allowed to have." Something along the lines of: Viagra? No problem. The Pill? Not so fast. The more I think about it, the religious component of this gosh-awful decision is almost irrelevant. The Democratic candidates simply need to point out this is yet another example of someone other than a doctor telling women what they can or can't do.

They aren't making any decisions for them, just saying if you want to end your pregnancy your employers insurance doesn't have to pay for it. Planned Parenthood is still more than happy to do that for them.

I hope we get a gender breakdown.
