Reds take a much needs series against the Brewers. They need to take 2 out of 3 against the much improved Pirates.

Tues 7:05 Cueto (6-5, 1.85 era) vs Cumpton (2-2, 6.06 era)

Wed 7:05 Simon (9-3, 2.95 era) vs Volquez (4-5, 3.89 era)

Thur 12:35 Bailey (7-3, 4.68 era) vs Morton (4-7, 3.09 era)

I like our chances in this series. Pretty favorable pitching match ups.

I agree, that is about as good as it gets.

I agree on the pitching matchups but it seems like the Reds have trouble with Morton. What are his stats versus the Reds?

Edit: Just did some quick research. The last three years, Morton has won more game versus the Reds than any other team he has faced.

See edit above. He has been good versus the Reds over the past 3 years. He has started 8 games, 4-2 with 2.59 ERA. Reds are hitting .233 off him in the past three years.

Not saying they will against the Pirates, but have the Reds swept a series yet this year? Can't remember.

Won 4 of the last 5 and the bats certainly came alive yesterday. Really hope they get at least two more wins this series to head into the weekend!

Cumpton has pretty much dominated the Reds in his brief career, but I still like their chances with Cueto on the hill.

Would be great to kick the series off with a big win.

Cueto has thrown 18 innings of 6 hit, 1 R, 3 BB, 16 K baseball against the Pirates in 2 starts this season.

Mesoraco has really been struggling lately.

Over the last 2 weeks: 6 for 34 with a .200 OBP & 12 K's.

But was 3-5 with an RBI and a run in the last game.

Agreed, but he has nutted a couple of those along that stretch that were lasers that didn't fall.

Great, guess we get George Grande and Sean Casey this week.
