June 14, 201412 yr Author I read where we only get 3% of our oil from Iran. If true this whole 4 a gal is nothing more then crooks being crooks.
June 14, 201412 yr MarketWatch.com Over 4 bucks a gal at the pump now? Didn't you say oil was the reason we went to Iraq a while back? Should we go back again for the same reason?
June 14, 201412 yr About 6 years ago when we were paying 4 bucks per gallon, wasn't the price about. $150 per barrel ? All speculation when it comes to prices. People are worried about the stability of the.middle east right now as they should be. I get what you're saying completely. That's what sucks about how gas is priced.
June 14, 201412 yr Oil exports are already banned (or at least heavily restricted). Refined exports are not. Tell me, if prices start to go down, why would oil companies spend the investment capital to continue increasing production? They keep drilling because profits keep rising. You cut that off and investment doesn't continue and production falls. None of this happens in a vacuum. So is that a shot at Capitalism or the oil companies or both?
June 14, 201412 yr Author Didn't you say oil was the reason we went to Iraq a while back? Should we go back again for the same reason? As I have recently posted, we should bomb everything oil over there and let things go as they go.
June 14, 201412 yr Let's see how fast the liberals blame Bush. I see it as the fault of Obama and his Arab Spring failure. My thoughts from the left... I blame Bush (43) and every Senator (Democrat and Republican) who voted for the war. Kerry was against the First Gulf War and for the Second...idiot got it wrong both times. Hillary was for the 2nd Gulf War. It rightfully cost her the nomination in 2008. Cheney, Rummy, Colin, aluminum tubes, mushroom clouds, yellow cake, Mission Accomplished. Child Please. Ron Paul had it right. So did Senator Byrd:
June 14, 201412 yr As I have recently posted' date=' we should bomb everything oil over there and let things go as they go.[/quote'] So you're saying if we don't like the price of a product from another country we should just bomb them until we get a price we like?
June 14, 201412 yr Author Nope. I am saying if we are going over there to fight, we need to make a gigantic statement. I say we just drop some huge bombs on them and not send the young guys over there to be picked off a few at a time, like we have been doing.

There are also plenty of defenseless women and children there.
June 14, 201412 yr :puke: I hate oil companies. And wall street. How can something happening today impact oil pumped a year ago and refined 9 months ago. Bunch of jerks. It's all futures speculation. Oil is sold on forward contracts not spot so if the current potential availability is at risk, so are the potential futures contracts. It doesn't take a lot of variability to impact the ability to get crude to a refinery and if a refinery has an issue, it's even more of a problem. All of this is driven by the US inability to manage our own internal resources….
June 14, 201412 yr Does any of this mean gas will be $4.50 for July the 4th like have been hearing?$4.50/gallon may be a bargain by July 4. It depends on how long it takes Baghdad to fall and what happens when the Iranians intervene in Iraq. It doesn't matter that we don't import oil from Iran and Iraq in big amounts. Other countries do and when the supply dips, or is widely expected to dip, prices will skyrocket.
June 14, 201412 yr Does any of this mean gas will be $4.50 for July the 4th like have been hearing? Absolutely if Baghdad falls. Then once big oil/OPEC sees that we will pay it, it could become the norm.. If we pay it.
June 14, 201412 yr Absolutely if Baghdad falls. Then once big oil/OPEC sees that we will pay it, it could become the norm.. If we pay it. What is left of OPEC? Libya is falling this weekend as well as Iraq. There are 2 major players. Iran is hated that is 3 major players. Who is benefiting? Maybe Saudi Arabia - home of 19 hijackers and the most stable oil pumping nation in the ME. The Saudis are crying all the way to the bank about all the turmoil around them.
