May 30, 201412 yr That Encarnacion trade was good at the time. The Reds got a few good years out of Rolen that helped their success. Encarnacion is a defensive liability too so it's a good thing he is in the AL
May 30, 201412 yr Hate to admit but Encarnacion used to frustrate the heck out of me. We didn't call him E-5 for no reason. Sure would be nice to have his bat in the lineup the last 3 years.
May 30, 201412 yr At what point do you bring in a new Hitting Coach? Would it even matter? Well, they did. And the approach has not changed from 2013 to 2014 as far as I can see. I realize it's easy to analyze and find fault from an easy chair, but this Red's team at the moment is making it SUPER easy to do that. It doesn't look like the "manager-in-training" project is working but if he has no tools or his tools are broken, how can I expect much? Hell, I can hear Dusty laughing in California from here!
May 30, 201412 yr Won't work, Reds don't know how to bunt. They would know how if Krumps were the coach. I am only half joking with that comment. Question for everyone - is there any professional sport where the manager and coaches have less impact than baseball?
May 30, 201412 yr I still have some faith in the redlegs, it's just hard to have faith in your team when you can't get runs across the plate. Only 1 of our starters is hitting over 300.
May 30, 201412 yr We didn't call him E-5 for no reason. Sure would be nice to have his bat in the lineup the last 3 years. Ironically, his inability to make a play at first base actually cost the Jays a win last night. The throw to 1st was a short-hop, but very manageable. E-3 (formerly E-5) couldn't hang on, and the Jays lost in the bottom of the 9th.
May 30, 201412 yr At what point do you bring in a new Hitting Coach? Would it even matter? Enjoy it now. Won't last. My kids couldn't give a crap about the Reds anymore

May 30, 201412 yr Just heard, last 6 games 70Ks, and 6 BB. Woeful 5 Ks and no walks last night? Wow. So last 7 games 75 Ks and sorry its 7 walks?? How do they even win one game?
May 30, 201412 yr A few good years from Rolen? Try one. Funny how Reds fans have such a skewed view on reality... Come on man... Don't act like the Encarnacion move was a bad one. Not only did the Reds trade him, but the Blue Jays CUT him and not a single team claimed him off waivers.... We weren't the only ones that had thought he had run his course, but we were the only ones that had to deal with his non productive years. His production spiking like that after 4 or 5 years in the bigs already wasn't likely or forseen by anyone. He just happened to beat the odds, and the Jays were the beneficiary.

When you produce at the plate like he has the past few years, nobody cares & people tend to forget that. I'm glad he has found a home in the American League.

Why would anyone think that any of the Reds Players will hit over .300? There is not one player in the line-up other than Votto that ever hit over .300 in the minors. Why are we surprised that they are not hitting now? Jocketty strip the farm system and we are paying for it now. Last year was the window and it is closed. I will still root for this team, but they will be lucky to win 87 games. They can't hit and never will be able to hit.

Right, had no problem with the trade, but lets not glorify Sottie Rolen. Just another in a long line of washed up Cardinals that wind up in Cincinnati. he had ONE good year> Not a few as oblivious to the facts Reds fans state on here...
