US Marine in Mexican prison!!!

Featured Replies

Took a wrong turn, ended up in Mexico and had 3 registered guns with him.

Now in jail and doesn't look like he is getting out.

Did 2 tours in Afghanistan.

Why does our President not demand him released or do something about it.

Obama was fast to call out the white cop when he rightfuly arrested a black professor and even had a beer summit.

But nothing to help this vet.

Is there one thread on this site that you post in and not mention Obama, or what he did or did not do concerning another matter? Oh, wait, we all know the answer to that question.

It doesn't matter if the guns were registered or not, they are illegal in Mexico! Dozens of US citizens are arrested each month for bringing firearms or ammunition into Mexico. Don't even bring a pocket knife into Mexico! You will be arrested, your vehicle seized, can pay 10's of thousands of dollars, and you could face up to 30 years in prison. A knife could get you up to 5 years in prison.

Just because the State Dept won't comment, at this time, doesn't mean that the US isn't doing anything.

I forget. What law did the professor break in gaining entry ino his own home?

Whether Obama's personal friend, the professor, broke a law or not, he berated the policemen for just doing their jobs. Obama turned the incident into a national debate on race.

This is quite a contrast to his reaction to an American combat veteran under his command making a wrong turn on a freeway and ending up in a Mexican prison for six weeks - and counting. The way that the Mexican government has treated this suspect is also quite a contrast to Obama's decision to release 36,000 illegal aliens, many of whom are Mexican citizens convicted of crimes including rape and murder, from American prisons.

Is there no limit to the extent that liberals will go to defend President Obama's malfeasance? Had this corpsman been a personal friend of Obama, there is no doubt that he would be a free man today.

As a side note (related to another thread) there is a growing movement on Twitter to raise awareness and force action.

#MarineHeldInMexico

#FreeTahmooressi

There is another Marine being held as well in an unrelated incident.

Sen Kerry was in Mexico this week and the issue was raised. No details on what was said.

Article I read said it is amazingly easy for someone to accidentally enter Mexico where this guy did.

Greta Van Susteren devoted at least one recent show to this topic. She took a camera crew and followed the route that the corpsman followed and it looks very easy for somebody not familiar with the area to end up in Mexico. A couple of small signs warn that you are headed for Mexico and they were obscured with graffiti.

It has everything to do with Obama, he is the most powerful person in America. He orders the release of thousands of illegal aliens from Mexico but hasn't done anything to get a law abiding citizen in our military who made a wrong turn and in some hell hole in a Mexican jail ran by Cartels.

Yes if you want to be in politics then you get the past drug back up.

Why won't the State Dept tell what they are doing, did Obama say they would be most transparent ever, yes or no.

Why don't you wake up and see how pathetic of a job Obama is doing and yes it is on him to get this guy out.

So if an American citizen is in another country and breaks one of their laws, they shouldn't face the consequences?

So if an American citizen is in another country and breaks one of their laws, they shouldn't face the consequences?
If that country is Mexico, a country whose president repeatedly calls on our president to ignore American immigration laws, and the violation lacks any criminal intent - .no, they should face no consequences. Besides, spending more than six weeks in a Mexican jail without even having the benefit of a hearing is a serious consequence.

However, given that dozens of Mexican citizens have died as a consequence of Eric Holder's Fast and Furious gun walking debacle, I can understand why the Mexican government might have little sympathy in this case.

So if an American citizen is in another country and breaks one of their laws, they shouldn't face the consequences?

At a high level it's absolutely a fair question.

It may chance though since it's Mexico. Lots of caveats .

Just because he isn't texting you updates doesn't mean he isn't trying to get him home.
