Meso has never played 1st base on the professional level...

Which begs the question.... Has he played ANYTHING other than catcher on the professional level?

Pena struggled through it. I would say that Mesoraco is athletic enough to make it through in a pinch.

This reminds me of that line on moneyball where Billy Beane with Ron Washington is trying to talk Hatteberg into playing first...

"It's not that hard! Tell him Wash!"

"It INCREDIBLY hard."

"Well... Anything worth doing is right?"

That was a great line. I am not saying make a habit of playing him there. My point really has more to do with playing your best possible line up to try and win a series when it is in your sights. Cueto has been incredible lately but I would still load him up with the best line up possible to try and get this series win.

Yup. Hitters 5 through 9 are incapable of getting a hit.

Didn't Heisey get three doubles last night?

This was the best interaction IMO...

" David Justice: Scotty H.

Scott Hatteberg: Yo, what's up, D.J.?

David Justice: Pickin' machine.

David Justice: How you likin' first base, man?

Scott Hatteberg: It's, uh... it's coming along. Picking it up. You know, tough transition, but I'm starting to feel better with it.

David Justice: Yeah?

Scott Hatteberg: Yeah.

David Justice: What's your biggest fear?

Scott Hatteberg: A baseball being hit in my general direction

David Justice: That's funny. Seriously, what is it?

Scott Hatteberg: No, seriously, that is.

David Justice: Well, hey, good luck with that. "

:lol2:

Point is, it's not just as easy as grabbing a first baseman's glove and jogging out there.

IF you can pick a Logan Ondrusuck 56 footer in a freakin catcher's mitt, you can pick one at first. The footwork is the only struggle. Not difficult.

Hard to be mad at Price for not playing a guy at 1st who's never played there before. I'll take Santiago at third over Soto at first. Also Cueto is on the mound so hopefully they can score 2 runs and call it a day.

Heisey couldn't drive in a run as a starter if his life depended on it.

Pathetic.

This is worse than little league

Frazier messes up two balls at first. Reds should be busting their for Cueto and they played like it was no big deal. Terrible!

Every Day Heisey strikes again

Game over
