May 14, 201412 yr No doubt. I think Mal just enjoys the Reds being mediocre to average. Gives him something to complain about. :lol2: Not really. It does keep me busy pointing out that they are usually just that. Mediocre to avg. Lot of people either don't get it, or choose to ignore it. Since the inception of this board, how many world championships for a Cincy team have we got to talk about?
May 14, 201412 yr When they do produce one you hate them anyway. :lol2: What? I loved Austin Kearns lol

May 14, 201412 yr So it takes a World Championship to go above mediocre to average? Typical answer on this board...
May 14, 201412 yr Waiting for the obligatory " remember how bad they were?" Always got a kick out of that response.
May 14, 201412 yr Typical answer on this board... Let's hear it then. What does it take for a franchise to rise above mediocre to average in your eyes?
May 14, 201412 yr Let's hear it then. What does it take for a franchise to rise above mediocre to average in your eyes? Really they have been above that the last three seasons. Would have been much better had they actually won a playoff series, especially leading one 2-0 with 3 left at home. That was bad. Is that good enough. For some perhaps. Would be for me except it appears they have peaked. So is a franchise that hasn't won a playoff series in what, 20 years anything more than average?
May 14, 201412 yr Why do you think that is good enough for everyone? Of course it's not good enough. Doesn't mean they are a bad team and I will be hopeful they have a good year.
May 14, 201412 yr Why do you think that is good enough for everyone? Of course it's not good enough. Doesn't mean they are a bad team and I will be hopeful they have a good year. Nope they're not bad. Too bad guys like you may never see what really good is though.

That's what I don't get. Just because the majority of us don't complain about everything they do, doesn't mean we think where they're at is "good enough". I don't know why people associate not complaining with approval.
May 14, 201412 yr Nope they're not bad. Too bad guys like you may never see what really good is though. I wish/hope I see a really great Reds team someday. The days of the Big Red Machine type teams are over and will never happen again due to FA and the ridiculous money in baseball.

Agree with that. But, that doesn't mean they can't field a championship team. There's one every year. Why not the Reds? Anyway, lets move on. How about a win tonight to try to get to .500 before the 40 game watermark?

How about a win tonight to try to get to .500 before the 40 game watermark? I'll tell you why THIS Reds team can't win it all anytime soon. The Reds have ZERO dollars left to do anything, what you have right now is what you get, which is a team that ISN'T good enough to win it all, as is. The ONLY way this Reds team can even think about getting better is to trade , if they can, some of these HUGE contracts, I.E. Votto, Phillips, Bruce, Chapman, Bailey, which won't be easy to do, and for some reason the Reds think ALL these players are the best in baseball at there positions, what a shame. :meh: Edited May 14, 201412 yr by Lizard Momma
May 14, 201412 yr The Reds have the 2nd lowest K percentage in the NL and highest number of productive outs. It makes no sense how they can't be getting runs in.
