May 13, 201412 yr Why hit Votto 3rd? I'd rather hit Votto 3rd than Phillips because BP is a human double play. If Hamilton's on base, I'd rather have Votto up, because (a) he'd take pitches allowing Hamilton to steal, and (b) he's a lot less likely to end the inning with a twin killing.
May 13, 201412 yr Why hit Votto 3rd? Because on the 3 hole he will have a few more oppurtunities for RBI. I think the world of Pena in terms of getting good AB's. Hamilton gets on, Pena moves him to 3rd. Then Votto comes in and drives him in.

His RBI totals are anemic.

Then he should be in the 2 hole like we all agreed upon to start this shindig. You agree?
May 13, 201412 yr Then he should be in the 2 hole like we all agreed upon to start this shindig. You agree? Who, Votto? Absolutely. With Bruce & Meso both out though, you don't really have many viable options. Ideally, they'd run out a lineup of: Hamilton Votto Mesoraco Bruce Frazier Phillips Ludwick Cozart
May 13, 201412 yr Frazier has driven in more than anyone else on the squad, why not him in the 4 hole? And we are almost at that vaunted 40 game bench mark/ 25% of the season in the books and Votto is on pace to drive in 50. So, all I'm saying is he's not adept at driving them in. He needs to be in the 2 hole, I don't care who else is on the roster, injured, at Louisville, retired, on bereavement or paternity leave, whatever. He should hit 2nd.

May 13, 201412 yr I thought you wanted Soto in the cleanup spot. I'm surprised he's not. He's on the Brandon Larsen path to MLB stardom. You wait and see!!!
May 13, 201412 yr Billy triples to open up the Reds 1st. By the way, Hamilton is hitting higher than Votto for those keeping score at home.
May 13, 201412 yr And Pena can't get him home as he flies out to left. It must have been awfully short LF.
May 13, 201412 yr Billy triples to open up the Reds 1st. By the way' date=' Hamilton is hitting higher than Votto for those keeping score at home.[/quote'] Quentin looked lost on that triple! Votto gets thrown out on a nice play by Seth Smith.
May 13, 201412 yr Quentin looked lost on that triple! Votto gets thrown out on a nice play by Seth Smith. I'm watching from my MLB App at work. So how shallow was the fly ball from Pena that Hamilton didn't attempt to score on.
May 14, 201412 yr I'm watching from my MLB App at work. So how shallow was the fly ball from Pena that Hamilton didn't attempt to score on. Way too short and Quentin caught it running forward. Hamilton took about 3 steps towards home & stopped. He would've been out easily with an average throw.
