May 9, 201412 yr I'm going to run in one on June 7th, and then another one on June 27th. I don't want to die while running in either one. :lol2::lol2:All help and suggestions are welcome
May 9, 201412 yr I'll see if I can find the "Couch to 5k" training thing my fiancee just used. I think it's an 8 week program, but she just ran the Flying Pig 5k last weekend. It definitely works as she finished 8th out of 230 women in her age group, and is already running 10K's to train for the Redlegs run at the end of May.
May 9, 201412 yr ^Daughter has an app; a 10-week training program to run a 10-miler (runs the occasional 5K now). Probably related to what you're referencing.

She found something on Pintrest, and decided to do it. My initial thought was, "this won't last long", but she's 100% into it, and planning on running the 10k at the end of the month, a half-marathon in October, and hoping to build up to a full marathon by the Flying Pig next year. :idunno: It's a cheap healthy hobby, so I'm happy. :lol2:

I did download that app, but a coworker told me she didn't think it was all that great because she said she thought it limited you on what you could do. I assume your wife was already in pretty good shape to finish that well. She probably wasn't what most would consider a couch potato was she?
May 9, 201412 yr To quote Richie Farmer: switch from Bud to Bud Light. Seriously....what is your current fitness level? and do you want to finish or compete...what is your goal?

It wasn't an app that she's using. It was some sort of program. She uses the Map My Run app to track her time and distance, etc.
May 9, 201412 yr Author To quote Richie Farmer: switch from Bud to Bud Light. Seriously....what is your current fitness level? and do you want to finish or compete...what is your goal? I want to finish, but I am having a friendly competition with a friend to help raise some money for two charities. My current fitness level is non existent. I want to beat him, and his fitness level is slightly more active than mine, but he's 10 years older than me.
May 9, 201412 yr I just went out and ran one last weekend...after sleeping 3 hours in my driver's seat...after drinking a 12-pack of Corona Light. I completed the race and survived. I'm supposed to run another one tomorrow morning.
May 9, 201412 yr I don't run at all now and plan to run the half marathon next year at the Flying Pig so I will be checking here for suggestions too.
May 9, 201412 yr I'd really like to run a 10K or half-marathon but I really worry about the consistent pounding on me knee. Ever since ACL surgery, it just doesn't feel great to run on pavement for extended periods of time.

May 9, 201412 yr Any suggestions on how to start running on pavement? I have been on an elyptical for the past year or so but when I try pavement I seem to lose my rythem and the soreness is something that I am going to have to get used too.

When it comes to running, shoes make all the difference in the world. Don't buy the cheap stuff, because you really do get what you pay for. Most people I know that do a lot of running use Asics.
