May 9, 201412 yr Does Sean Penn get consideration? He shouldn't IMO, but I would bet he's somewhere on the list. I'm not a Penn Fan...but he is a much better actor than Winslet (IMO) whom you mentioned earlier. Just watch At Close Range!
May 9, 201412 yr I wonder if Will Smith will make it. I'd put Leo #1 myself. Leo is definitely near the top of the list if not on it...he's pretty much great in everything he does. Without him, Titanic (the movie) sinks.

May 9, 201412 yr What about Bill Murray? I'd say no, but could see it. I'd take Robin Williams over him I think.
May 9, 201412 yr Author You've probably never seen Ladykillers haha! :lol2: Okay, rarely make bad movies. Interesting side note about that....A guy I know who lives out in Hollywood, and is trying to break into the acting business, told me the reason you never see guys like Leo or Denzel or Hanks, etc. in bad movies is because they're so high-profile, that when writers/directors want them to be in their movies, they have to pay them (he said about a $1M) just to read the scripts. So if the movie isn't a sure-fire hit, they don't even bring it to their attention. :idunno:
May 9, 201412 yr One that I'd have on my list of favorites, that hasn't been mentioned so far, is Robert Redford.

I removed 14, so I could add in Christian Bale.
May 9, 201412 yr The bolded are the ones I'd remove. I removed 14, so I could add in Christian Bale. Good call on Christian Bale. My fourteen are somewhat similar to yours: 1. Jeff Bridges 2. Chris Cooper 3. Matt Damon 4. Claire Danes 5. Viola Davis #44 6. Mel Gibson 7. Scott Glenn 8. Scarlett Johansson 9. James Earl Jones 10. Rachel McAdams 11. Robert Redford 12. Will Smith 13. Emma Stone 14. Robin Williams Leaves my overall list looking like this (in no particular order): Christian Bale Javier Bardem #40 Kathy Bates Warren Beatty Cate Blanchett George Clooney #35 Daniel Day-Lewis Robert Deniro Leonardo DiCaprio Kirk Douglas Michael Douglas #43 Robert Downey Jr. #38 Robert Duvall Clint Eastwood #36 Sally Field #39 Jodie Foster #42 Morgan Freeman Paul Giamatti #47 Gene Hackman Tom Hanks Dustin Hoffman Anthony Hopkins Samuel L. Robin Williams Emma Stone and Robert Redford were the last two to make the cut. She's quite young, but I think Stone has shown a wide range in her abilities. She's done the comedy genre with great success (Easy A, Superbad, Zombieland), she's done the Rom-Com (Crazy Stupid Love), she's done the action/cheesy (Spider-Man), and then the serious drama (Gangster Squad, The Help). As for Redford, I just love The Natural too much to exclude him. :lol2:
May 9, 201412 yr Author Two more that I'd say are must includes....Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. Hugh Jackman wouldn't make it after further thought IMO.

I think she's promising as an actress, but I don't know if I could strike anyone from my list based on her promise, to-date. Redford, I REALLY LIKE. I just don't know him to go too far outside of his charming, slightly aloof, good looking, quiet-type leading man roles.
