Best Freshman in Kentucky

Featured Replies

I would have to say there are two freshman from Simon Kenton to watch out for. That would be Hunter Faehr and Luke Vance.

Did these players play Freshmen, JV or Varsity? For Simon Kenton, there's one Freshmen I've seen play who stands out; Kyle Casson. Plays JV, great catcher (starter?) with a nice arm, good bat and great foot speed for a big kid.

They played freshman, Faehr is the starting catcher, strong arm, good bat and speed. Vance is starter center field.

Since this thread has morphed into your favorite freshmen in NKY players, the following Dixie Freshmen made the team last year as 8th graders:

Charlie Buechle OF, P

Brian Wulfeck 1B, P

Isaac Oelling OF, P

Cameron Barrett OF, C

These 4 helped a 2014 Dixie Freshmen Team improve from 10-16 last year to a 12-9-1 record this year and made the semi-final of this seasons freshmen tourney. Looking forward to watching the growth & development of these four and their future success!

One of the top freshmen at Simon Kenton is Trent Kincaid who plays JV and varsity.

I haven't followed many teams this year, but was at the 33rd District games for Boone, Teegarden leads off for Boone, and played 2B against Cooper. Has a great eye and a real quick bat at the plate. Fouled off many good pitches from Dunn, more like an experienced player. Against Conner, he also led off and played SS because SO. Purnell was pitching. He made 3 plays in one inning that just made me say WOW! Picked a hard shot and threw one guy out, next batter hits it in the hole, he does a slide catch to his right, comes up and guns him out at first. Follows that up with another great pick and needed a scoop from Ganns at 1B to complete the play. Boone fans went nuts and Conner fans and coaches just shook their heads. Very impressive for a Freshman playing Varsity. I wouldn't say he has a cannon at SS, but none of his throws had a hump in them. Not bad because when I first saw him I thought a good gust of wind would blow him away. Can't be more than 100 lbs.

Very good game for Teegarden. He is definitely good at running up a pitcher's count. Good luck to Teegarden and his Rebels teammates tonight when they complete their game against Conner.

Watch out for Clay Wagoner, a freshman pitcher at Warren East. In his first varsity start, he gave up only three hits over 6 innings in a 3-1 win over Barren County. He is 6'2" with a very good fastball and change up.

Really? Please send me a Jugs gun video of this then I'll be impressed.

Another one I have heard about is Jack Schneider (Daviess County). Up to 87-88 mph already.

You have to subscribe to access his video, but according to PBR, he's been clocked at 87. On top of that, he runs the 60 in less than 7.0. It appears he's the real deal.

Now that is impressive. I think we have a winner.

Kincaid played short in the district finals for SK. He had 2 hits and I believe 2 RBIs

Kincaid definitely proving himself as one of the top freshman this year.

Good luck SK!

Kincaid is a gamer....He's scrappy and has a great approach to the game. Glad to hear that he's making his mark on the SK Varsity team. Good kid......

I noticed that Bourbon has been playing in Northern Ky in a fall League. I believe that the second baseman that is starting for them is a Freshman but I don't know his name. Seen him make some spectacular plays and hit the ball very well for a Freshman. He is batting in the top of the lineup for them. Does anyone know about the players in this fall league. I have seen them playing at the Freedom's field.

Gage Hughes , Greenup Co. Shortstop and switch hitter. Freshman 2015. Has started varsity at 2nd base, his 7th, and 8th grade year. Also batting leadoff in 2014 season. Greenup has won district both years and made a run in region.. A top team in the 16th each year... Some D1 looks . Also Kyle Gammon fr 2015, 2nd base, nice player. Really good range and speed. Greenup should be very strong in 2015.
