On a side note, in the car last night I listened to the yahoos on 700 talk for about 15 minutes about what the Reds need to do to 'fix it' before it's too late. I turned it off after I heard "this is desperation time for the Reds" and a caller followed up and said that we need to trade Votto, Bruce, and Phillips for more hitters that 'better fit the system.' I'm sorry, I didn't know there was a system for baseball.

And nearly as bad was hearing the actually host talk about how we need to trade Cueto while he's hot for 2 good starting bats. When asked who, the Diamondbacks were brought up because they have a terrible ERA and high team BA. Someone find me two guys on that roster you want to trade Cueto for... It's a shame those guys get paid to hear themselves say stupid things...

You have a great point about the talk show hosts in the area. They are brutal for the most part but I don't get your point on 2 players on DBacks roster. Hill and Goldschmidt are easily better hitters than anyone the Reds have outside of maybe Joey Votto.

No way the D'Backs trade Hill & Goldschmidt for Cueto if that's what you're suggesting.

Hamilton 8 Votto 3 Phillips 4 Bruce 9 Frazier 5 Ludwick 7 Pena 2 Cozart 6 Simon 1

This. I was looking for 2 hitters that fit somewhere. i.e. Not first base, or right field. Take into account if Hill were to come BP would have to be returned and it makes it not realistic.

No, I was not suggesting it. If i were the Reds I would not want to trade the best pitcher that they have and if I were the DBacks I would not trade Goldschmidt. I was just saying that there are two worthy players on the DBacks roster. He probably did not mean it the way that I thought but it sounded like ESPN was saying that there were not two worthy players on their team.

Agreed - I just though that you were originally saying that the DBacks did not have anyone worth trading for.

The thought was more of how ridiculous the notion was that it was that simple to call up the DBacks and trade Cueto to them for good hitting because they have a good early season average. It's tough to find good hitting. It's even more tough to find hitting in areas they could use it from.

Im about ready to give up on Cubs and go to the dark side and like the Reds. I can name more Reds than Cubs but my kids love pushing every Cub loss in my face.

To clarify earlier tweet, Samardzija is only player in last 100 yrs to open year with 5 straight apps of 7+ IP & 2 ER or fewer without a win

Have they called it for good? I've almost got the Latos-Grande interview memorized, right down to the charming story about Stormy.

Yes it has officially been postponed.

No makeup date yet

Will be interesting to see what they do with Simon. Most #5's would get skipped to keep everyone else in the rotation on schedule.

I thought I already saw they are starting Simon tomorrow and pushing Soft C back a day.
