May 6, 201412 yr You see, in these articles, that 90 percent of people want background checks, not more gun control. Polls can be slanted by carefully worded questions to achieve any desired outcome. Exactly. There used to be a fringe "Pro Family" organization back in the late 80's and early 90's that surveyed numerous people and worded the question like this: "Do you support gay and lesbian teachers who molest their students?" I think you can imagine how pretty much everyone answered the question. This group later published their results saying something along the lines of: "Based upon the results of our surveys, over 99% of Americans do not want guys and lesbians teaching in schools" Fortunately this fringe group died out in the early 90's.
May 6, 201412 yr No freedom of speech should be regulated unless it is racist, bigoted, etc.Who gets to define what is racist or bigoted?
May 6, 201412 yr Who gets to define what is racist or bigoted?I bet his answer isn't Republicans of any kind.
May 9, 201412 yr You see, in these articles, that 90 percent of people want background checks, not more gun control. Polls can be slanted by carefully worded questions to achieve any desired outcome. Here are some in the opposite direction: Americans Don’t Want More Gun Control, Says Poll From Gun Lobby New Study: Majority of Young People Reject Gun Control Poll: More Americans Dissatisfied With Gun Control Laws Being Too Strict One of the links come from a Tea Party website and the other comes from a Gun Lobby group. Therefore, your argument is invalid. Who gets to define what is racist or bigoted? Anything that discriminates.

Reminds me of this question: When did you stop beating your wife ?
May 9, 201412 yr How about this compromise, RTS gives me all of his guns and ammo for safe keeping? You have to trust me, I'm a D taking guns and ammo from an R.ol!
May 9, 201412 yr How about this compromise, RTS gives me all of his guns and ammo for safe keeping? You have to trust me, I'm a D taking guns and ammo from an R.ol! If that works out for your, let me know. It didn't work for me with Leather Neck. In a thread months ago he said with work, he just hasn't gotten to the range in a while to shoot his Colt 1911. I offered to start a 1911 foster program where I would adopt his Colt and take care of it for him. Feed it .45ACP regularly, clean it regularly, provide any maintenance it needed......I am still waiting for it to show up at my door. I am not sure what he is waiting for????????

May 10, 201412 yr How? Because I exposed false information? You exposed nothing other than the fact that you follow party line talking points. You also miss the point, or flat out want to ignore it. Polls can be slanted by carefully worded questions to achieve any desired outcome. Let me say that again, and read it slowly so it might have a chance to sink in. Polls can be slanted by carefully worded questions to achieve any desired outcome. It is a fact that most people, you for example, do not know what laws and the vast number of laws that currently exist. Public opinion polls do not form public policy, but individual actions by hundreds of thousands of citizens do. Put it to a vote nationally and you will overwhelmingly see what the people want....their 2nd Amendment rights. But you don't want that, you want an anti-gun administration to force something on the people that fits your anti-gun agenda. Let's look at a nice little fact. Chicago is one if the strictest, if not the strictest, cities where gun control is concerned. Yet, let's take a look at what those strict laws have achieved: May To Date Shot & Killed: 9 Shot & Wounded: 64 Total Homicides: 11 Week in Progress (Sun – Sat) Shot & Killed: 8 Shot & Wounded: 41 Total Homicides: 8 Year To Date Totals Shot & Killed: 95 Shot & Wounded: 536 Total Homicides: 121 See if you can guess who is committing these shootings. You think it's the law abiding citizens or the criminals that don't give a rat's patootie what laws are in place? You think it matters to them if the entire state of Illinois completely outlaws guns? You think they wouldn't still be able to get guns?
May 10, 201412 yr ^ - Actually these numbers are down around 25% from previous years. Chicago was forced by the courts to allow conceal/carry starting January 1. Chicago police cited that the reason for the drop in 2014 was due to gun confiscations. But the rate of gun confiscations in 2014 is far behind what it was in 2013. So there is no factual basis to make this claim. So it would seem if the police commissiner has to lie to come up with an alternate reason he basically has confirmed that the carry law in Chicago is working to reduce the carnage. Carnage this 90% targeted at minorities in Chicago.

I just knew he was going to try to tell me the killings were down because of gun confiscations, which is completely false.
May 11, 201412 yr ^ - Actually these numbers are down around 25% from previous years. Chicago was forced by the courts to allow conceal/carry starting January 1. Even though concealed carry is now legal, isn't IL a May issue not a SHALL issue like KY. The difference being that in Shall issue states, so long as the person seeking the permit meets certain criteria (age, clean record, vision, take a course, pass a test, etc.) the state has to issue to the applicant. In May issue states, even if you pass all the stated requirement, some government official (often the County Sherriff) has to approve it and in some areas, most are declined. You basically have to have a threat against your life (ie a woman who has a protective order against a stalker, etc.) to get one.
