Does the state have to let them drop out? They weren't going to be able to compete with either NKY 6A district either, so why even petition to play up?

In a four-team district like Grant County is in, they will make the playoffs. Why not schedule 7 games that are more to your level, develop some interest in the program and see if in two years, or four years, you can be a little more competitive with the other district opponents? I know some folks knock teams that are 7-3 and haven't played anyone, but 7-3 at a downtrodden program, even if the "3" are all bad district losses, still has to make the program look a little better for the future.

Fair point, but then what is there to play for. Get beat by your district teams, to turn around and more than likely meet one of them in the playoffs if you would happen to beat your cross district team.

According to another post that contains the letter they sent to the KHSAA there isn't anything to play for anyway.

Grant County requested a move to 6a, if declined they said they were going to play as an independent. So, looking at the final draft Grant County was denied the move to 6a.

You know, when I was real young and things didn't go my way, I'd take my ball and go home. After a few times of this no one wanted to play with me. There's always going to be the big dog that can kick your tail, but it's those that can stand up to the big dog, not run and make him take notice.
