Travelers have the best 17u team and I'm not sure it's close honestly.

Till they play other teams in the state, that can't be said. Last year they avoided KY teams. and very sure they would not want to play a KY team this year. On paper they maybe but until they play, no so fast...

Avoid? I don't know a lot about the EYBL however aren't they committed to playing EYBL teams? Isn't that the benefit of being in the EYBL?

I would love to hear what you think you know about how they avoided KY Teams? Can you provide some substance? Facts?

What teams do you think they want to avoid this year? The Ville? If so why?

I will abstain from commenting on rankings due to my obvious affiliation with Hoop Dreams, but I want to say that Kentucky AAU as a whole is most definintely on the way up. From the 17u level down to middle school and elementary AAU programs, I think the emphasis on AAU in our state is clearly helping to bolster the level of play in high school basketball.

Also, I think we have seen a clear increase in the number of College Basketball talent coming from KY in recent years.

Many EYBL teams play other tournaments as well as the EYBL league. The only real difference is it is a league ran by Nike with a lot of dollars behind it. It does not mean the kids are the best of the best. A lot of EYBL teams also participated in AAU Nationals.

It seems that this year the state AAU is same time of the first week of EYBL in California. More than likely, the 16U will play up in a loaded 17U field.

The statement of avoiding KY teams go back to last year talk with the Louisville Magic trying to get a game with the Travelers. Surely you know who the Magic had last year.

You just can't say you are the best in the state if you don't play teams in your state. AAU state is the best place to make that point. Ville, Hoop Dream, Next Level/Young Life, Magic, Retros and many others play in tournaments that have other EYBL teams playing.

So because the Travelers make the decision not to play in certain tournaments they are avoiding?

Just sounds like you have sour grapes.

I think it is more about basketball fans wanting to be able to see who the best AAU team in KY is on the court as opposed to on paper. Not sour grapes.

People have this belief that the Travelers are THE best team in the state every year because of their roster but if it is never settled on the court then talk is cheap.

I have a hard time believing any 17U team would be able to compete with the Travelers this year. Simply too big, talented, and athletic.

At the 16U level, they are very young, as they only have two sophomores with the rest being freshman, but they have ARGUABLY the best freshmen group in the state on that team.

16U I would go with:

1.) Manimal

2.) Ky Heat

3.) Lville Magic

4.) TBC Elite

5.) Hoop Dreams

State tournament in a couple weeks at the KBA should be a dandy in that age division.

TBC Elite ahead of HD and KY Elite?

And, where are you putting KY Elite in all this? That team is loaded from the rosters I've heard about.

Also, If Eli Wright plays for Hoop Dreams, they'll be the best 16U team IMO.

In the State at 16U, I would put KY Elite, Hoop Dreams, LVille Magic and Manimal at the top in no specific order. The Heat would probably round out my top 5.

Who is the top AAU program 15U, 16U, 17U this spring/ summer in state of ky. I was in attendance at the Knoxvegas Heat Invitational and basically got to see all the top programs in the state at the 16U level and I will say the 2016 class is loaded. We even had a state represenative TEAM MANIMAL coached by Maze Stallworth go 7-0 in the tourney. Beating Nike sponsored teams like Team United, Alabama Premiere, Game Elite (JJ Hickson).

15U: matt mustanga, hoop dreams, shining stars, kentucky heat

16U: Team Manimal, louisville MAgic, TBC Elite, Kentucky Heat

17U: Hoop dreams, Louisville Magic, Travelers, next level retros

Which Hoop Dreams team? They have two that are pretty good. Also, where is The Ville, who finished excellently in AAU Nationals last summer? The Kentucky Bulldogs also finished in the top 4 in the state tournament last year and the roster has improved this year. Once at full strength, all of these teams should be pretty darn good.

Agree whole heartedly!

People still aren't grasping that there's no such thing as "17u" with the Nike teams. You're either EYBL, or you aren't. The Travelers 16u isn't an EYBL team. They're just a team affiliated with the Nike team. Travelers 16u can play in any tournament they want, while the EYBL team can only play Nike events.

Hoop Dreaams #5? Thats a total step down from last year. Did all there players leave?[/

You asking that question is confusing me. Your own ranking, just a few posts prior, would indicate you were of the same opinion.

"16U: Team Manimal, louisville MAgic, TBC Elite, Kentucky Heat."

What's Manimal's roster this year?

For those affiliated with other teams, care to post the 16U rosters? It's hard to know from year to year given all of the movement. I think that'll give us all a better idea.
