April 8, 201412 yr Author Whichever one sent you a Save the Date first is the one you should go to. If it was friends or distant relatives, I would agree. Question: If you know the date of one, and someone else announces their engagement with no date yet, can you tell them, "Any day but this day?" :lol2:

You go to whichever one you decide to go to (IMO the fair way to do it is the one you received the invite/save the date from first), and if the other person doesn't understand, you aren't nearly as close to them as you had thought. Simple as that IMO.

April 8, 201412 yr If it was friends or distant relatives, I would agree. Question: If you know the date of one, and someone else announces their engagement with no date yet, can you tell them, "Any day but this day?" :lol2: I've done that. Two friends both asked me to be in their wedding with only "summer of ___" as a date. Once the the first wedding date was set (wedding A) I informed wedding B that if it were the same date as wedding A I couldn't be in it. It WAS a date wedding B was considering. They took into account my problem and eliminated that date. One of my close friends (and fellow triathlete) is getting married this summer. I asked her if she had picked a date yet and she said no. Informed her that I had two triathlons already paid and scheduled, if she chose either weekend I wouldn't be able to make it. She completely understood.
April 8, 201412 yr Simple: Don't go to either. Because weddings are terrible. I'm a pastor. Went to and/or officiated 15 last year, 21 the year before that (under 30, still have lots of friends getting married). I can confirm this to be a fact.
May 2, 201412 yr Author So I have been praying every day that something, somehow would shift, change, someone gets cold feet, etc. Today, on the 5th anniversary of my mom's passing, I learned that one of the wedding dates was changed! :dancingpa :ylsuper: :dancingpa :ylsuper: The venue for one was overbooked, so they had to move it to the week before. So back to back weekend weddings in Indy and Milwaukee in June of 2015! (I know that my mom had something to do with this.)
May 2, 201412 yr This is easy. Go down the list. When you get a no that one is eliminated. 1. Do both have an open bar? That is exactly the method that I was going to propose.
May 3, 201412 yr Since this thread popped back up, I'm going to again endorse my simple formula found on the previous page. It's Derby Eve so I might even be willing to demonstrate the more complex calculations I alluded to but it'll have to be in person as I have noticed my typing already starting to deteriorate...
May 3, 201412 yr Funny! Wish it were that easy. One is my Goddaughter. But this will be the 4th wedding on that side of the family, as there are 21 grandkids. The other is the very first wedding on that side of the family, and there are 9 grandkids. I'm just sick about this right now. Yep, not a good situation. I first thought you have to go to your goddaughters, but you made a good point about the first wedding on the other side of the family. Tough one, wish I could help.
