Anyone actually know when the new district alignments will be out for the 2015 classes?

They have stated previously that the draft alignment with districts will be done at their April board meeting. Probably would be finalized at the May meeting.

It is better to win a 1a state title than to lose in the 3rd or 4th round of the 2a playoffs.

 

This is their line of thinking and frankly why not. This gives Bw a far better chance at a title where if they are in AA they might never get one.

 

I will sorely miss Bw but with NCC there it will make up for it. I can't wait to catch up with the Breds and reintroduce ourselves

 

District 3's travel is hopeless

Pikeville and Hazard in the same district is a huge change!

I think there will not be too much change besides Crittenden County taking Mayfields stop in district one and I think Paintsville will move back into the district with Pikeville and Paris goes back with Raceland Fairview and Nicholas County and They put Bishop Brossart in the district with Frankfort.. But who knows what the khsaa will do...

Where do we (Brossart) sign up???

I dont think there will be alot of changes as well. The one thing that I will dislike the most is if Frankfort and Paris are not in the same district. Just because there is a lot of history in this old rival.

Fulton County and Fulton City will be better suited forfeiting their 1st Round Playoff Games.

 

For as small as those schools are they will go broke making the pilgrimage to Frankfort and Louisville every year just to lose by 50.

 

With a 4 team district it is not beyond reason that those schools will commonly go a combined 1-19 and still be forced to drive 4+ hours each just to see their season end.

The schools to the west of I-75 are the hardest part of this alignment because they are so spread out on that side of the state. Schools east of I-75 are much closer together which makes alignment a little, not much, easier. Two schools in Eastern Kentucky that will complain are Hazard and Pikeville being in the same district. These schools have been pretty powerful in the past in Class A football and I hate to see them in the same district but again I put travel before competition. It’s hard to say a whole lot about competition within a district when you can go back and look at the Northern Kentucky district throughout the 1990s! I remember a few times 4 of those teams (Beechwood, Bellevue, Newport Central Catholic, and Ludlow) being in the Class A top 10!

I am a fan of Raceland and noticed your comments about the NKY districts and I for one can certainly confirm that but could add (only the 90's ?? :lol2:). Several years went with all 4 teams from the NKY / Beechwood, NCC (when they were 1A) district advanced in the playoff 2nd round - 1-4 in that district beat all four from ours. I tribute a lot of Raceland's success in the last several years to playing that district for so long in the playoffs, it showed where our program needed to be and how much further that we needed to improve. Raceland finally started winning some games although never a region title. Playing the likes of NCC / Beechwood in the playoffs along with scheduling the best teams that we could get in the regular season made Raceland a better team and program. Several of the NKY teams that beat Raceland in the 70's, 80's and 90's went on to win a state title. We had a general saying around here that Raceland could get Budweiser as a sponsor bc we were "Beechwood aged" .

As for the new alignments, I have no problem. Our district lost Nicholas and p/u South Floyd.
