March 26, 201412 yr The white delegation selects Tiger Woods.... So do the Asian, Black and Native American delegations.
March 26, 201412 yr I only know Nick Cannon from Drumline which I have seen a hundred times. His wife, though, I liked earlier in her career before she tried to get too soulful, if that's the right description. I don't see him as being racist..just trying to be humorous a la the aforementioned Dave Chapelle who I think is hilarious.
March 26, 201412 yr While I have no doubt that Nick Cannon is not a racist, I also have no doubt that if Justin Timberlake or Dennis Miller or Blake Shelton wore Black Face during a promo such as this that they would be labeled a racist. Well, we can delve into this I guess. There is a history to blackface that isn't there going the other way. Does it seem like a double-standard on it's face? Sure. Is it? I don't think so.

March 26, 201412 yr The white delegation selects Tiger Woods.... The black delegation took Tiger Woods but I still laughed at loud at your post reminiscing about the racial draft. :lol2:
March 26, 201412 yr Most people I know just laughed when Dave Chappelle did his "Chuck Taylor" news anchor bit in white face. Eddie Murphy did id on SNL too. I don't recall much stink being made about those at all. Nothing to see here. Doesn't bother me a bit. Dave Chappelle would do it all the time. Some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. I only know Nick Cannon from Drumline which I have seen a hundred times. His wife, though, I liked earlier in her career before she tried to get too soulful, if that's the right description. I don't see him as being racist..just trying to be humorous a la the aforementioned Dave Chapelle who I think is hilarious. Chuck Taylor is exactly who I thought of.

How about Robert Downey Junior's character in Tropic Thunder? He had on makeup to make him look black for the ENTIRE movie.

March 26, 201412 yr Author How about Robert Downey Junior's character in Tropic Thunder? He had on makeup to make him look black for the ENTIRE movie. From the article - a quote by Nick: "Shout out to @RobertDowneyJr This is one of my favorite characters of all time! Hilarious!!! There is a big difference between Humor and Hatred," he added. So, does that mean a white man CAN put on black face in this day and age as long as it is for humor and not hate?

I'm the wrong person to ask because to me, funny is funny. If it's funny, I laugh. ***Disclaimer - Unless children are involved.
March 26, 201412 yr No comparison. Post 18. While I agree it's not the same, if a country singer came out in black face there would be a horrendous uproar over it. As there should be! Don't you think?
March 26, 201412 yr While I agree it's not the same, if a country singer came out in black face there would be a horrendous uproar over it. As there should be! Don't you think? Nick Cannon is more of a comedian/actor than a singer. Post 23.

March 26, 201412 yr So, does that mean a white man CAN put on black face in this day and age as long as it is for humor and not hate? Fine line; and not one I'd ever like to try and toe. Even humor can come from a hateful place. If it were me, the situation would have to be just right for me to do it.
