Boyle County - Steve Adams

I would be really surprised if everything you have heard is exactly that way. Even if it is true, why would you blame Chuck Smith for what the administration does in scheduling? There are many cases of teaching assignments changing during a coaches tenure at other schools, not just Boyle

Co. For the people out there like Hellbird that says that he already doesn't like Chuck, I would say he doesn't know him or is concerned when the team he supports has to play Boyle in the future.

I feel pretty good about the information I have received.

I blame Chuck because if his concern was everyone at Boyle and not just himself then he would do more to make things works for everyone. What Chuck wants Chuck gets. Last I heard Chuck wanted 15K more than what Madison Central was paying and he got it. He's happy to be back home though. :thumb:

I get good information as well and it was not the same as what you reported. Realize though that the administration has just so much leeway in scheduling when a coaching change takes place. Because Larry French did not teach, then this created even more of a problem.

It's the teaching schedule. Right now Coach Adams has 3 Drivers Ed classes, a PE class and a 3 Prep Periods. Next year he'll have 1 Drivers Ed class, 2 PE classes, 2 Wellness classes and 2 Team Sports classes, no prep periods. Chuck Smith will have 2 Drivers Ed classes, a PE class and 3 or 4 prep periods. It isn't even or fair at all and it is pushing Coach Adams away.

Drivers Ed, PE, and Team Sports? How will he manage to juggle such a busy schedule?? :lol2:

Not the point. If you have worked your way up to a certain point at your place of employment and done all you can for your company would you like it if the company came to you and doubled your workload and gave your workload that you rightly got to by paying your dues for the company to someone else? And would you like it if they sent another employee at your pay grade to tell you that instead of your bosses alerting and talking to you about the change in your schedule?

I agree. Creates a big problem. So why not distribute it equally instead of laying it all on one person?

Was Larry French the old Football Coach? If so why didn't Chuck just take over his schedule?

Larry French was retired from teaching if I'm not mistaken.

Larry French retired from teaching and was only coaching if I am not mistaken. That's what made this situation tough. I believe Chuck and Steve are qualified to teach the same curriculum.

No, but I would understand that if my job was to teach health and PE then I wouldn't complain when I was assigned a health and PE class. How has his workload been doubled? The same amount of class periods still exist in a day at Boyle County. Other teachers and coaches have been at Boyle longer than Coach Adams. They are expected to teach the class schedules given to them. I highly doubt that a teacher was sent by the administration to inform Coach Adams of the schedule change hours before the district tournament.

Why is it that a football coach has so much control in a school system?? Wonder what Smith is being paid? Rumor is 90,000-100,000 a year- to teach Drivers Ed and coach football! That is a problem. If I was a teacher at Boyle I would be raising cane because we all know that is not what teachers make! SO WE see what is important at that school system...FOOTBALL! Well I bet there will be some hell raising going on soon!

That may be the case, but I always thought that the new guy was the one who usually got the "short end of the stick" if anybody had to, not the successful guy who's been there for several consecutive years. And even though he has coached there before, Coach Smith is the "new guy" on the block again.

That's fine. I have no reason to not believe what was told to me.

Ok, then if Larry French just coached then there should not be as many things that would need to be taught because you would think instead of giving the BBall coach more things, it should be the same or even less because now you have another person (Smith) taking some of the responsibility.

What am I missing?

I was told yesterday that they thought the teaching situation for both coaches had been worked out. Coach Adams is a great coach who loves his players. He demands a lot out of them but he cares for them more than anyone will see or know. It would be ashame if they didn't get his teaching schedule worked out for him.
