I grew up about three blocks from the entrance to Highland Cemetery. We used to fish, ride bikes, and play in the woods back there. We played kick the can, spotlight, and ghost in the graveyard in the graveyard. When I developed insomnia in late high school and early college, I used to go for walks in the cemetery at night when I couldn't sleep - it's the most peaceful place around.

Highlands next to St Mary's cemetery in Ft Mitchell? I almost died in that cemetery when I was in high school trying to swim across the lake lol. Literally made my peace and was ready to drown when I was tangled up in moss and couldn't move my arms or legs after swimming in place struggling for about 15 mins...I went under thinking that was it when I touched bottom. I was in only 3 foot of water haha. I can laugh about it now, but thought I was seriously about to die.

Greater Cincinnati wide. They shot in Eden Park yesterday. Expect a lot of shooting locations throughout the city in the next month or so.

 

Any reason you think that more bigger productions are coming to the Cincy area? We had Ides of March a few years ago and now this. I'm all for it, but was just wondering.

 

MJ, seems your quoted post may have been referring to my quoted post. If so, I was talking about the shooting of "Carol". Shooting for this movie will be throughout the area for a few weeks.

 

Emilo Estevez has been planning a shoot here for a movie he is making. It will likely come some time in the near future, but nothing in concrete yet.

That'd be the one. That's pretty hilarious though. I can definitely understand the panic though, but after the fact....definitely funny.

I knew that their used to be something in place that made it pretty expensive to film here. Glad that they decided to do something about that. Thanks for the info.

Actually Cincy made it easier for filming companies to shoot here about 25 years ago, when Rain Man came to town to shoot. But recently there has been competition, a big part from cities in Canada. Cincy was chosen a few times because of a lot of the buildings in OTR, which has the highest concentration of a particular type of building (I forgot the name of it) outside of NYC. And NYC is way more expensive to shoot than in Cincy.

 

I find it hard to believe that Carol is the biggest film to shoot here. With Rain Man, Traffic to name the top two, then you got Public Eye, In Too Deep, Little Man Tate, Milk Money and many others that were good, just not box office killers like the first two I mentioned.

So will we be seeing OldBird anywhere in this film? I still scan the crowd every time I see "Secretariat" looking for him.

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

Ohio Governor John Kasich has signed legislation that will increase the tax incentive that Ohio offers for film projects to be produced in the Cincinnati area for the next two years.

 

HB 508 also states that any unused film tax credits in one fiscal year can be allocated to the following year in a biennium. Ohio's tax incentive budget was $10 million in FY 2012. Now, the legislation states that Ohio has $20 million in 2012, beginning on July 1.

 

Governor Kasich says this now means that Ohio will be able to provide up to $30 million in tax credits in FY 2013, (July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013), and then each succeeding fiscal year (beginning in FY 2014) Ohio will be limited to $20 million per year.

I think it is very cool to watch a movie when you know the scenery in it.

They apparently set up shop at Arnold's in Cincinnati for the day yesterday. The bar was closed to the public for the entire day.

They shot yesterday morning in OTR, then moved to Arnolds in the afternoon, and finished up back in Eden Park last night.
