This thread has been rather quiet since it was started. Now that spring practice is drawing to a close, who are some of the kids that have raised there stock since last year? Understand there were some position changes that took place in the spring, will these become permanent? Will there be some players that are given the opportunity to contribute on both sides of the ball? Have there been any notable defections from the program?

I believe Shelby Jones has been named defensive coordinator. Great coach for the boys.

I heard from someone that the team from Miami, Florida has decided not to play HHS, and that HHS is in need of one more game. Is this true?

Schedule I have says otherwise. Also would expect the schedule from here going forward to look a lot different, more of a local flavor.

What would you like to know and hopefully someone can provide you with an answer. Not sure why there is not much chatter except perhaps that there are not many Dad's that are members of BGP.

I think it is so quiet because of the many unknowns still at this point. With the new head coach will come some changes. There were quite a few players in spring sports that did not participate in spring ball.

 

Plenty of talent on the roster - challenge will be to get them spread evenly across both sides of the ball. Depth will be more of an issue than in the past.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Put that with the way the season ended last year for Highlands and I would say there is apprehension with many of the fans.

When you say "apprehension", do you think that might be because Coach Weinrich is not telling everyone this is the "best" team ever? Also curious to know what there is to be apprehensive about. Not every season of Highlands football ends with a state championship. I would be curious to hear what everyone's concerns are and perhaps the Highlands faithful could answer them. I agree with Stinky that there is more than enough talent to compete for a state championship, but the big question will be how that talent is distributed in order to maximize the talents that individual players have.

Highlands will have another great season, I have no doubt. But, you have to expect most Highlands fans are apprehensive after not winning the State Championship in quite some time. And, there is always some worry when a new coach takes over, no matter who that coach is. It's natural.
