March 4, 201412 yr I'd rather stay out of this and just be amused at the back and forth...but I do have a question Would it make UK a better free throw shooting team if Cal obsessed over them in every press conference? Players today see and hear everything the coach says in press conferences, if Cal was making a big deal of it in pressers don't you think that would put more pressure mentally on them. As a coach yourself you know there is more mental to FT's than physical. UK does shoot FT's and run drill to improve their FT shooting. They have talked about it this season, one drill was having the players run to get heart rate up then stop and shoot FT's cold with penalties for misses. FWIW 62.6 UNC FT % 68.5 UK FT % Dadgumit! Maybe Roy needs to focus on them more! Yep, the Tarheels are really struggling from the line this year, and I'm quite sure ol Roy is worried about it. But I'm not.
March 4, 201412 yr What's crazy is UK will have games where they are lights out from the line, like nearly perfect. It's about concentration and toughness, not practice.

March 4, 201412 yr At least Cal's not bashing soccer players when he talks about FT's Soccer? Heck, we should be bashing soccer at EVERY opprotunity!
March 4, 201412 yr Because he's trying not to make a big deal out of it for the players maybe? The more he harps on it the more the pressure mounts. Everything he says is calculated and for a reason. Don't take everything he says so literally. Because his pLayers are so fragile they can't handle hearing the truth. That always kills me when people make comments such as "Cal has to watch what he says because his players read everything". So what? If p,ayers cant handle being told they fold under pressure then so be it. Why do they need t be handled with kid gloves?

March 4, 201412 yr I firmly believe that about 75-80% of what Calipari says is with the intent of him recruiting the next crop. He knows they're always listening. People should not take him literally the majority of the time, but most do.
