Congrats to the Birds!

Birds led the game throughout. Took a 23-17 lead to the locker room at halftime. Quickly went up double digits early in the third, and kept the lead over 10 for the entire 4th quarter.

Buten and Houliston led the way for HHS. I do not have stats, but those 2 were the leading scorers. Hemmerich was the only offensive threat for Conner for most of the game. Scott did hit a couple of three's, but the rest of the group were not a threat.

Was expecting to see a much different Conner team after they beat Cooper and Boone this week. The Cougars didn't look much like the 33rd district #1 seed.

The Highland Bluebirds boys basketball team has its first two-game winning streak of the season.

The Bluebirds (5-10) took down the 7-9 Conner Cougars, 51-38 on Saturday in Hebron. This marked Highlands’ first 9th Region win outside of 36th District play.

Highlands saw two players reach double-digits. They were Brendan Buten with 21 and Drew Houliston with 13.

Highlands returns home Tuesday against Cincinnati Schroder. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Schedule says at HHS, but game was moved. Will be played at Schroder.

Yikes. That's a bad loss for the Cougars.

The 33rd is really starting to confuse me. :idunno:

The only thing we can even come close to predicting in the 33rd is that two of them will make the regional tourney.

Saw the boxscore and noticed the sophomore for the Birds MItchell Cain scoring 6 points amongst only 5 players that scored. I was impressed with him coming off the bench in the Cooper game. He is not afraid to attack the rim or put it up. Is he also a JV player or strictly Varsity player who gets decent minutes?

By the way, who locked down Hemmerich in this game? He is a long kid who can score it and only getting 11 would lead me to believe someone was defending him pretty well.

Mitchell Cain has moved into starting varsity line-up. Doing a nice job on the defensive end and plays aggressive.

Houliston and Hergott alternated on Hemmerich. They are the two that have the strength to be disruptive to a scorer like Hemmerich. They got plenty of help once he got the ball since the balance of the team were offensively passive.

Conner looked and played like a team that beat two District rivals this week and got "fat and happy". The roller coaster of a season carries on in Hebron.
