January 30, 201412 yr Also not to get away from the thread, but since it doesn't seem to be getting as much action as I anticipated, has anyone ever been to Waverly Hills? Waverly Hills and Bobby Mackey's Music world are two of the most haunted places on earth and right here in our own backyard. Anyone ever been? EKY also has some haunted and strange places, lots of freaky stuff here in the Appalachians, some credit it to native curses left on the land. Been to Waverly Hills twice. First time was just the standard tour at night. Second time we went we did the overnight stay. I can honestly say that I saw some things while there that affirmed my already existing belief of spirits. Myself and a couple other guys were sitting in one of the hallways with our flashlights turned off and down toward the end of the hall I could see a black figure. It did not have human form, but it was a figure of some sort. As I kept looking down the hallway it would seem to be getting bigger and closer. I would look away and turn back and it would be bigger and closer to me than before. As it got within what seemed like 10-20 feet of me I stood up and jogged (i prefer to say jogged instead of ran because it makes me seem tougher) down the hall in the opposite direction. My sister was also part of the group that went and she swears that she saw the figure of a human holding a candle stick appear in front of them and move across a room before disappearing. This sort of stuff really interests me. I hope we can get some good feedback on this thread.
January 30, 201412 yr I've been to Bobby Mackey's a few times in my day. The only thing that haunted me there was cigarette smoke and not so attractive ladies.:lol:

As a man of faith I'm bound to accept that certain things beyond our normal understanding do truly exist... but I've kept a pretty skeptical attitude about these things for a long time. I'm a little alarmed by the local diocese's willingness to let an untrained parish priest perform the investigations and the rituals though. There aren't a whole lot of experts on this anywhere in the Church these days... and for good reason. You'd think they'd bring in a group of people to look through this in the same manner they investigate places and people who say they've seen an apparition of the Virgin Mary. I was surprised by that as well. Years ago, I had the opportunity to speak to the resident priest in charge of exorcisms for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Traditionally, there is supposed to be an official "exorcist" priest appointed in each diocese, but with many bishops and archbishops, the practice is considered archaic and out of date, so they don't observe the practice of appointing one. Regardless, the priest I spoke to said that although he had witnessed and participated in Catholic exorcism rituals in several other dioceses, he had never personally had one to conduct within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati within his tenure. He had looked into several of them, but after investigating the cases prior to exorcism, none of the subjects had exhibited enough (or often times any) of the proper qualifying signs of genuine demonic possession.

It's called "Hostage To The Devil", and it tells the story of five separate exorcisms in United States the 20th century. There were several evenings while I was reading it where I had to put the book down for the night because my skin was crawling. Really good read. The diocese acted pretty far outside the norm here, I feel. Three of the big qualifiers: 1) Xenoglossy - speaking or writing in languages you have no reason to know how to speak/write. 2) Un-Natural Strength - lifting or moving objects that are clearly beyond your body's physical capabilities of moving. 3) Objects moving without any outside force having an influence on them.

January 31, 201412 yr Ghost Adventures did 3 shows at Bobby Mackey's. Those guys are NUTS Love that show, I really think I've watched every episode. I like their strategy compared to some of these other shows and paranormal crews, I think they've got better evidence because of it. They really have gave the paranormal community a lot of solid evidence.
