GOP has already trotted out one balance-the-books candidate from Wisconsin -- Paul Ryan. Like Al Gore, Ryan couldn't even win his home state. Walker has all the charisma of a wet noodle. I sincerely hope that the Repubs nominate him to run for president.

Unfortunately, All Tell, a smart candidate without panache is a losing candidate. The litmus test I like to use is how would candidate so-and-so do on "The View"? Forget about how well they would perform on "Meet the Press." Can they connect with Barbara and Whoopi?

Kentucky really doesn't have that option in regards to coal do we? Most of the issues are due to fed regulations aren't they?

 

But it still is the Dems who are causing the problems. Ky Dems would not slash their own throats on the state level. On the other hand, send a Dem to DC and they will fall into bed with the Obama-Reid-Pelosi cabal.

Considering Hillary and Biden are the frontrunners for the Dems I don't think a wet noodle will be overshadowed at all. Hillary is not charismatic at all and Biden is just plain odd.

I don't disagree with your analysis. Over the past dozen years or so, the GOP has only produced two national candidates with what might be described as charisma -- Bush43 and Palin. Who's on the horizon for the Republicans?

And there's the coup I was talking about. Play to the least common denominator in this case the uninformed voter who pays more attention to The View then real informative programming. Promise to take care of them and give them everything they "need" and convince a few people who actually take the time to learn the issues that they are going to help correct past sins and get "flash" candidates elected. Then you change the rules of legislative bodies to push your agenda through and further change the rules so the minority party can't stop you from packing regulatory departments with people who will make regulations that suit your agenda, make sure your justice department only investigates parties that could potentially harm your agenda and use your new rules to stock the courts with people that will allow your agenda to stand. Sound familiar?

Both you and All Tell have missed the point. Whoever the GOP standard-bearer will be in '16 will have to connect with more than white males to win.

Last time I saw "real informative programming" on a regular basis was 20 or more years ago. I would also argue that the GOP has more uninformed voters than the Democratic Party, but that's a topic for a different day.

I agree with TTP here. The conservative candidates have been as personable as mud.

And don't overlook the negative impact of the Tea Party in keeping personable, centrist Republicans on the sidelines.
