January 31, 201412 yr The green industry has a lot of money to buy off people - mostly ours - in way of Fed government grants and unsecured loans. Bad enough to be lied to about the woefully unproven anthropogenic connection to climate change. But when your own money is being used to lie to you it should make us all a little madder than normal.
January 31, 201412 yr That's all fine and dandy, but every single one of the 97 or whatever percent of scientists on the global warming/climate change/whateveryouwannacallit side hasn't been bought by green industry opportunists. The green movement is simply not that big of an industry to be able to buy off the entire legitimate scientific community. I'm completely confident every scientist claiming hoax is paid for by extraction and other heavy industries, however. They've got a lot of money to toss around to rig studies on their behalf. So basically if you are pro man made global you're legit but if you don't believe then you've been bought off. Am I understanding you correctly?
January 31, 201412 yr So basically if you are pro man made global you're legit but if you don't believe then you've been bought off. Am I understanding you correctly? Here's a simple task, woodsrider. Find a scientific organization not funded by Exxon or the Koch brothers that believes global warming is a hoax.
January 31, 201412 yr So basically if you are pro man made global you're legit but if you don't believe then you've been bought off. Am I understanding you correctly? No, I'm just saying the ones who are on the far extremes one way or another are the most easily bought and likely to be rigging their findings to please their benefactors. Green industries have found friends on the scientific fringes to forward their ideology the same way heavy polluters have. I've found most of the resistance to the concept of climate change is little more than an anti-Al Gore or general anti-hippie stance -- kill the messenger.

Here's an even simpler task, contribute something to any discussion that isn't a far left talking point and has some actual substance to it.

Maybe you didn't mean your other post they way it reads then. You said you were completely confident that any scientist that claimed hoaxed was bought.
January 31, 201412 yr Here's an even simpler task, contribute something to any discussion that isn't a far left talking point and has some actual substance to it. Here's a bone with a little meat on it: We're 125 posts into this discussion and no one has brought up the fact that global warming is not a science vs. science dispute. It's science vs. capitalism.
January 31, 201412 yr One-note Johnny RTS is right in this instance. Follow the money. Good luck finding someone legit on your side who hasn't been bought and paid for by the oil industry or major polluters. I wouldn't trust an oil co. executive as far as I could pick them up and throw them, but there is big, big money on both sides...renewable energy is a huge industry and is not all as benign as it seems either. That is why we are encouraged to keep an open/analytical mind, listen to all positions and make informed logical decisions and not follow the herd.

Do you agree with me that this fight isn't science vs. science, but science vs. capitalism?
January 31, 201412 yr Maybe you didn't mean your other post they way it reads then. You said you were completely confident that any scientist that claimed hoaxed was bought. Yes, I am. I feel fairly confident there aren't any legitimate, serious scientists out there forwarding the idea that it is a hoax. Those forwarding that idea are almost certainly on the payroll of polluter industries, who have the most to lose in any effort to clean up the environment.

There is no way in hell the "green industries" have anything close to the political and economic clout that it would require to get 95 percent of the scientific community "on message" to the degree that they generally agree about climate change. For polluter industries making record profits during recession times, however, it's a drop in the bucket to buy off a few on the fringes.

January 31, 201412 yr They have the Federal Govt backing them, giving them taxpayer money. Not every single scientist. I'll grant that there are a few unethical ones on the outer fringes doing this, but not every single one of them the way you and others would like us to believe in your "let's throw the baby out with the bathwater" philosophy about climate change. I'm betting there's a similar number of the fringe one who have been bought off by green industries as there are fringe ones bought off by oil companies and other polluter industries.

January 31, 201412 yr They have the Federal Govt backing them, giving them taxpayer money. All this angst about the Feds supporting green company initiatives and nary a word about the billions of taxpayer dollars that support Exxon et al. through corporate welfare benefits. Some of these oil subsidy programs have been on the books since FDR's reign.
