I don't buy this. Johnny Manziel is from a rich, affluent family in Texas and people don't like him because of his arrogance, either.

Actually what you don't get is everything isn't race related. You act as if Sherman was white no one would say a thing about it. You are wrong, it didn't matter that he was black, if he was white he would still be getting slammed about how he acted.

You ever heard of Ryan Leaf? He was white and got slammed all the time with things he said.

 

If being black means everyone should ignore what is said in the media because he is black, then that is a cop out.

Can you at least admit that there are have been racial tones in this situation for a lot of people even if you aren't one of them?

I think a lot of "celebrity" types and "sports-talk" types are making a big deal out of it because it pulls in a wider audience and hence ratings. I don't think most of the football fans thought that much of it......except maybe dang wish he played for my favorite team. Again having been thru the "Chad" era which was again done for the casual fan I saw no problem with Sherman's "announcement" on the field right after the game.....and I especially like how he has said today that he did not mean for it to take away from the team victory.

why does everything have to be race related or political. Am I the only one who saw an NFL p,Ayer act like a jerk in a post game interview? When I saw his actions after the play and heard his following remarks in several interviews I never once thought

1. He must be saying the things he's saying because he is from Compton.

True, maybe my passion comes from wishing everyone was beyond it like some of us. Can't hurt to wish. I just don't like the generalization that comes up a lot of times.

I didn't know anything about his background, his college degree and in no way thought he was a "Lower-Class" American. Not knowing the history between the two players and just seeing his interview I did think he came off as arrogant and was being a poor winner.

All I knew was that the guy Erin Andrews interviewed made one heck of a play to seal a trip to the Super Bowl & then drew every bit of attention away from his team's accomplishment in order to place it all upon himself.

 

My opinion will never be changed that what Sherman did was selfish & took away from his team. And if what he did wasn't wrong, why issue the apology for it?

 

However, I will say that I (and others) should not have called him an idiot or child or a fool based on just that interview. I don't condone what he did, but you can't reach conclusions about someone based solely off that one little incident. People make mistakes, Sherman admitted he could have handled this better, & we should forgive him and move on.

 

As for the article, I disagree quite a bit of it, but mainly this line:

I would disagree just as vehemently about Manziel being a thug.

 

I think the race factor was part of the motivation behind the article.

I agree that I'm sure some have made it racial. I don't read twitter so I don't follow that. Actually the only things I've read about it was in here or listened on the radio or saw on ESPN. I didn't see the race things.

 

Maybe I'm naive, just like I didn't know athletic meant black. Maybe I'm old because I am not into all the new techie things. I can only go by what I read and as far as this Sherman thing, that has been on here and what I saw when it happened. Does that make it wrong to not agree with his actions?

 

Just as someone mentioned Johnny Manziel, I think he is a punk, Ryan Leaf always thought he was a moron punk, I never categorized them because of the color of their skin. I also never said Sherman was a thug, read every one of my posts this week and you will never find one where I called him a thug...I called him a punk. I call lots people who come off like that punks, such as Johnny Football or Leaf etc. I always thought Bill Romanaski was a first class punk too. To me being a punk is not unique to any race. I said Sherman was a punk with the way he acted just as the others I mentioned. If I'm prejudice in any way maybe it's to high paid athletes because they are the ones I always seem to have issues with lol.
