FWIW, I plan on strongly discouraging any of my future sons from playing football. JMO, but you have to be a little crazy to play above the high school level.

How will he be good enough as an adult? He's 14 now and I forbid him to play. If he can magically become good enough to play football as an adult without playing since he was 7 then he needs to magically turn his A's and B's into all A's if you ask me. He can magically hit me up with some cash and a 2014 Lexus IS 350 as well.

Several NFL players didn't take up football until late in life. Strahan for example didn't play until his senior year in high school. When did Antonio Gates start playing?

Clearly, you can't stop an adult child from doing what they want. I think the point is, it takes an extremely rare and gifted athlete that would be able to make it at that point, having never played before.

I'm not going to let my youngest kid play football but I'm not Obama so I guess it isn't news.

Let him play soccer so he can get kicked in throat and die, no thanks.

Let him play basketball so he can get undercut and hit head on hard wood floor. No thanks

Let him bass fish so he can drown, no thanks.

Let him run track so he can have heart attack, no thanks.

Let him play baseball so he can get hit by 90mph fastball in head, no thanks.

Let him play volleyball, he ain't a transgender so no way that happens.

Let him be on academic team so he can get migraines and sprain his thumb, no thanks.

Anotonio Gates was a highly touted college football prospect. He was recruited by Nick Saban at Michigan State.

How many kids even play sports and never get hurt or only get hurt a little like sprain or pulled muscle. More of them than those who get hurt. We only hear the bad cases and there are few of them.
