Zack is a "victim" of understanding the game and having a great team around him. If this was a different year for NewCath, he'd be averaging around 16ppg and 5 assists. As it is, the team moves the ball so well that he doesn't have to dominate the ball. Therefore, he doesn't. He does what it takes for the offense to run smooth and win games.

 

Does what is best for the team. That is great! His time will come, and in the mean time, he is still doing very well.

I have watched Ruthsatz play twice this year, Hatton play twice this year, and Bolden three times this year. IMO Ruthsatz is the most well rounded of all three. Ruthsatz would be my number.

Plays very good defense (every possession)

Handles the ball extremely well (can go right or left)

Can get to the rim

Can shoot outside

Excellent passer (always has a lot of assists, makes all his teamates better)

 

I don't see Hatton or Bolden as being as well rounded, not saying they are not great high school players, just not as good of overall game

I agree 100%. His biggest flaw, in my opinion, is that he at times looks TOO unselfish... I'd want him to shoot that open 12 footer every time, and he doesn't...

Interesting thing about this thread and discussion... there is a very good argument that Hatton may be the third best guard in the region... he is going to wind up being the all time leading scorer in the Ninth Region, and he may wind up not being first team all region. That, and having 3 of the top 6 teams in the Commonwealth, says a lot about the current state of high school basketball in northern Kentucky... may be as good as its ever been....

Yes and no... Hatton is a pure shooting guard... yes, he brings the ball up for Dixie sometimes, but that is part of Ken's offensive system... Hatton is a pure 2 guard, whereas both Bolden and Ruthsatz are PGs.

If your referring to Jordan Stowers at SK, he graduated in 2001. Excellent player. To my knowledge, Evan Stowers excelled in other sports outside of basketball, namely swimming, I believe.

The top to bottom thing might be correct, but I don't recall where any of those teams were ranked statewide in 2003, and I don't ever recall 3 northern Kentucky teams in the top 6 in the state. Also, I know it is the luck of the draw, but the Ninth Region representative that year (St. Henry) went out in the first round, albeit to a very good team. I am hoping for a much deeper run in the state tournament this year....

IMHO: If the young man(can't remember his name) doesn't get hurt in that first round game against Mason Co., I believe St. Henry moves on and could have made it to Saturday night's championship game.
