West Jessamine 74 Burgin 14

Final.

And before the sportsmanship police get started let me explain Burgin's situation.

They had 4 starters and their 6th man suspended for the rest of the season for a violation of school and team rules. Burgin is already a small school that has the challenge of fielding a team that isn't a district doormat and now they have lost 5 of their top 6 players for the season so scores like this will be common.

How many kids they have left?

Why did those players get suspended? That's unbelievable. They were already low on numbers.

Still...a little sportsmanship has to be applied. Play younger kids earlier and quit padding your scoring stats against a coach and school that took the right stance.

West Jessamine only scoring 74 on the team that Burgin is currently fielding is sportsmanship. If you know anything about the kids playing for Burgin then I'm sure you'd agree. I don't want to be disrespectful to Burgin or the kids on that team. This is not their fault.

I'm not sure because I don't know if they went to the middle school to add bodies. They were struggling to be competitive before they lost 5 of their 6 best players.

I applaud coaches that enforce this kind of punishment. I'm sure it sends a message to all now, and in the future. :ylsuper:

It's epidemic and a neverending argument. In a state with as many districts as we have there are going to be games like this that are unavoidable. The winning team doesn't like it anymore than the losing team. As long as kids aren't purposely trying to embarrass the other team I don't have a problem with the scoreboard. Ever. Some things are just unavoidable no matter what you do.

My kid used to attend Burgin so I am very familiar with this Burgin team and the beatdowns we took with full teams. This team they have now is extremely depleted. I applaud them for just finishing the season. I cannot imagine the frustration that Coach Kirk is going through.

I applaud Kirk for standing up and doing the right thing in a tough situation.

I agree. Also glad that the school administration backed him as well.

Definitely agree with Coach Kirk standing up along with administration. I am not sure what those student athletes did to be kicked off the team, but how many administrators and coaches would take a stand and do the same thing?

Tried to PM you, but it says mailbox full.

One thing I've always noticed about the Burgin school district is that they do the right thing.

Agreed. And it is always fair and consistent.
