Mike Zimmer to Vikings

what he has done here has been great considering where the 2-14 "Convict Bengals" were.

Those are you written words.

If you can't see the improvements and strides the organization has made in where they are now, compared to where they were when Lewis took over, this is the most pointless conversation ever. Drastic improvements across the board.

I'd love to see you actually address the content of his post, instead of dancing around it. Name one poster on here who has said the Bengals shouldn't fire Marvin. Just one.

From literally the deepest of the depths in the NFL to 5 playoff appearances. Changing the culture, bringing in the right personell. What he has done, has been great. Try to disput that. You can't. But as I have already said, yes he should have been fired, and the team needs a new direction. (not much, but a new direction none the less) But none of that takes away from the fact that I appreciate fully what Marvin Lewis has done with this team and that he is far from the worst coach in the league.

No you're right. no one has said Marvin deserves to stay. But this embellishing of what he has done here is nuts. 2-14? That was in freakin 2002. Lets raise the bar. Is the worst coach in the NFL. Nope. Sorry HB. But I do maintain he would have been canned a long time ago anywhere else. No reason to argue its just an opinion.

Right, he completely changed the culture of the organization, elevated the personnel and talent level tremendously, changed the expectations and attitudes of (most) fans. I've said for the past 3 years he should've been fired after the 2010-11 season. And you're right, most places he would've been canned at least 3-4 years ago. Doesn't change the fact that he's done a lot of good in Cincy.

No hes not the worst. They are in a better place than 2002. 12 years a go is while back tho.

Really? Can you read? Every person in this forum is saying "FIRE MARVIN LEWIS"!!!!! EVERYBODY! Not one person has said, "we should keep Marvin Lewis because making the playoffs but losing in them is fine considering where we were". If you would take 10 minutes and actually read what people are saying and not what you want it to sound like, you would see that people are simply stating that its not as bad as you all calling him the worst in the league and saying what he has done is unacceptable. That is it. no more and no less. Now please stop putting words in my mouth.

I have never said we should fire him. I would let him finish his contract.

I didn't read all the post so at what may have been repeated is that the Bengals imo have made a mistake, BIG Mistake by letting Zimmer go. One and Done Lewis should have been shown the door and Zimmer the head coach of the Bengals. This is both coordinators (Gruden and Zimmer) that have gotten away with the same administration keeping the coach that has obviously taken the Bengals as far as he can take them.

It makes me chuckle to see all these people that think Zimmer should automatically have been named the Bengals HC. Marvin Lewis was a hell of a DC, how has that worked out? How about Dick Labeau?

Worked out pretty good for some though. Don Shula. Tom Laundry. Chuck Noll. Oh and Cincinnati fans may have heard of Bill Walsh. Two way street. Nothings automatic though. But lets not act like DC's don't become successful HCs.

Right, but my point is, you guys are acting like Zimmer was/is a can't miss star as a HC. It's just as likely that he's another Lewis.

Yeah no way you can predict how a career will turn out for a HC. I where we have the problem lies with Marvin. The fact he is still HC.

So true, but look at the bright side. Marvin set an NFL record this year. He is the only head coach in NFL history to coach a team for 11 years without a post season win!!!

So we have that going for us.

And in a few more years he may have the record for most seasons without a playoff win.
