Mike Zimmer to Vikings

Marvin Lewis would not have survived in any other NFL franchise based on the record he has posted with Cincinnati. It is not acceptable anywhere but here.

On what grounds? That he took a 2-14 team to 8-8 the very next year with Jon Kitna at QB? That within 2 years of drafting Carson, he took the team to the playoffs? Or maybe that the only other downtimes during his tenure was when we had Ryan Fitzpatrick as our QB. Or because he took a rookie QB to the playoffs their first year and every year since. Is it time for change? Yes, it is. He has had his opportunity here and the team needs to go in a new direction. Had Dusty Baker's time run its course? Absolutely. But the facts are facts. These guys took terrible (at the time) organizations and turned them into contenders. So to say what he has done is not acceptable, or that he is the worst coach in the league, its just plain stupid. Can no Cincinnati fan just say, thank you for your time and the job you've done turning this team into a contender and best of luck somewhere else? No. We villainize a guy who for all things considered has been a great asset for this team.

No one has ever said it's acceptable.

Why are you even a fan?

Typically when something stops being fun, it's time to give it up. Considering all you do is complain about the Bengals, why don't you find another team? I would hate to be as miserable as you are about the Bengals about my teams. :idunno:

Vikings are now the first team I would call if I am HBO.

So you think he would have been kept as HC in other franchises with the record he put up here?

Just like to see a winner every once in a while. Getting knocked out in the 1st round mught be acceptable once or twice. But every time? And at home? I wish they were better than that. I actually had it in the back of my mind that they would be playing in Denver this week. Which would have been awesome. But unless your close to 30 you wouldn't have any idea how neat it really is. Misearable isnt the word, disappointed for sure. And surprised how accepting fans are of it. You say its not, but there is no outcry for change. It's like people are brainwashed

Apparently the Vikings are bringing on Norv Turner as OC. Good move.

I've not talked to a single person, or heard a single person on radio shows, etc, say Marvin should still be coach. Not one. Just because a lot of people aren't complaining about anything and everything Bengal related, doesn't mean they aren't wanting change.

I still don't get it. Why would you, by choice, be a fan of something that all you do is complain about? Doesn't make sense to me.

Well you said in a previous post, "Marvin Lewis is the greatest thing to ever happen to the Bengals". See how that works? I can put words in your mouth just the same as your doing. Where in what I said did I mention anything about him staying with another team? No where! I simply stated that you saying what he has done here is "not acceptable anywhere else" is a ridiculous statement because what he has done here has been great considering where the 2-14 "Convict Bengals" were.

I'm a fan of this team because I grew up with them. I saw them play at Nippert before Riverfront was built. I saw good times and really bad times. I had season tickets for years. Saw an undefeated home campaign that culminated in an AFC championship. Then it all went to hell. Yes it seems to have gotten better, but they seem to have hit a plateau. To be better something needs to change. I do watch the games and pull for them. But then we get handed the San Diego game. Sorry if you don't like or undersand the complaining. When they are a better team and a franchise, I will not complain and will cheer them. Until then it is what it is...

"not acceptable anywhere else." Either you agree with the statement or not. Pretty simple...

IDK. Let me talk to Jim Haslam and I will get back to you.

These conversations remind me of some in the college bball forum concerning UCs program. For a long time fans refrenced the mess that was created with Huggins ordeal. Eventually you need to raise the bar. If the bar is 2-14 forever, then yeah what they are doing is pretty good.

Really? Can you read? Every person in this forum is saying "FIRE MARVIN LEWIS"!!!!! EVERYBODY! Not one person has said, "we should keep Marvin Lewis because making the playoffs but losing in them is fine considering where we were". If you would take 10 minutes and actually read what people are saying and not what you want it to sound like, you would see that people are simply stating that its not as bad as you all calling him the worst in the league and saying what he has done is unacceptable. That is it. no more and no less. Now please stop putting words in my mouth.
