1. The games I saw, Scott Co. looked good, but not #3 good. Although "stud" player in Gilbert.

2. Lafayette, I feel should be in the Top 10, another "stud" player in Jackson Davis.

3. Agree 100%, the 'Dawgs ranked #13 is laughable.

4. CovCath going to FLA and winning a tourney is not shabby, so I can live with their ranking.

5, 6, & 7 I know really nothing about them, so I'll defer to you.

I'd have Covcath in the 10-15 range, RIGHT NOW. A win over Holmes tomorrow night justifies a top 10 ranking. A win over Newcath Friday is good enough for a top 5 ranking. Til then, I'm in "wait and see mode."

Lincoln Co is better than you think.

Were they at full strength when they lost to Russell Co?

Yes. That was the first game of the year. They are leaps and bounds better now. Ask LexCath, Montgomery County, Bullitt East, Doss, Madison Central, Taylor County.

I'm sure they'll all tell you that Lincoln County is better than you think.

They played Holmes tough last year despite losing by double figures both times. I guess I'm just not a fan of them playing "stall ball" against Holmes last year to keep it from being a blow out and it has carried over to this year.

I will admit that the win over Taylor Co is a good win. Coach Gatewood's boys are going to surprise some teams this year. Quentin Goodin and Day Day Slone, along with Ezra Oliver are going to be a problem for teams for years to come.

How does it even out? Can't. For instance, the year that Christian Co. won the championship, they played the first several games without their studs because of football. Started off in the tank. They never got as high in the ranking as they should have been on the computer because of the losses. So, I disagree that it evens out.

I think Christian Co hit a hot week during the State Tourney. I saw them when they played Clark Co twice with all their players and Clark beat them twice. Sometimes teams get hot at the right time and this was an example.

Nope. But I'll point out all of the flaws for you,

1, Scott Co isn't the 3rd best team in the state.

2.. Lafayette owns wins over two of the top 6 yet they are ranked #13?

3. I'll play the game. No way there are 13 teams in the state of KY better than Holmes right now. Tell a coach that Maxpreps had Holmes 14 and watch their reaction. Legit top 5-10 team. BGP folks seem to agree.

4. Covcath is close to top 10, but not there YET. Luckily for us, my point can either be proven tomorrow night or make me look like a fool for saying that.

5. LVille St X isn't top 25. They have beaten nobody to deserve their ranking. Teams like Male and Dixie are much more deserving and I say with confidence that they would beat St X.

6. Lincoln Co has a 27 point loss to South Oldham...Not a top 20 team.

7. Who has Montgomery Co beaten to prove they're a top 7 team in the state? How many teams listed in that top 25 would also be 14-0 against that schedule?

I could go on and on to prove my point but hopefully you now realize my comment has nothing to do with Holmes' ranking. Maxpreps XCellent 25 national rankings are solid but that's about it.

7. Montgomery has beaten Mad central 2 times once by 20, lincoln co, henderson co,Ashland. Not too shaby!

Check out the NKY coaches poll that LB13 just posted...spot on, IMO.

In NKY, yes I think the coaches rank the teams better than what Maxpreps has out.

Do you agree with the rankings from Holmes coach? Not saying a computer poll is better, but It does not have as much bias as a coach not voting for himself?

I'm talking about the state as a whole rankings. I believe any given region's coaches would do a better job. I don't think the coaches rank the state better than the computers do. To much predudice toward the big city teams.

Go back and look at post #63. I counted 16 teams that would be considered big city area teams amongst the top 25.

1. Correct

2. Probably true, but they did lose to a LexCath team that hasn't looked very good since then.

3. True

4. I would have agreed, but they proved otherwise Tuesday.

5. St. X has a win over West Jessamine which is better than any of Male's wins, and on about the same level as Dixie's win over Henderson Co. Male has 6 losses, 5 to unranked teams. Dixie is borderline. The loss to Campbell Co. hurts, but I could see them in the top 25.

6. See PP92 post. I've seen them three times in the last couple weeks, and they have looked like a top 20 team each time.

7. Montgomery Co. has wins over #16 Lincoln Co and #23 Henderson Co and have wins over teams that have beaten #18 Doss (Lincoln Co), #19 Bullitt East (Lincoln Co), #20 Cordia (Lawrence Co) and #24 Collins (Madison Central). I think it's safe to say none of those teams would be undefeated against the same schedule.

I do see some issues (Iroquois seems high to me?) but overall, I don't think these rankings are all that bad. I don't think people are going to completely agree with any ranking, but this one wasn't too bad.
