Nothing to hang their head about in losing to PRP. I saw them two years ago against the eventual state champ Trinity and they had some really nice young players.

How was the FT shooting for NCC?

Still a nice showing for the Breds. You cant get games like those in NKY unless You schedule Holmes every night.

NCC we loved having your team…class players, a class coach and a very good team. You will only get better and better as you learn coach Dawn's system. Your student body was awesome on Sunday night against Ballard with great support from the adults (fans) throughout the tournament. Thanks for coming and go get 'em.

Here is NCC's first half scores thru 7 games as they have never trailed (38-10, 58-18, 42-15, 32-20, 33-26, 43-34, 39-26) Avg 40.7 to 21.2

Here is NCC's second half scores thru 7 games with NCC listed first (28-25, 32-12, 31-32, 36-27, 36-33, 28-55, 31-52) Avg 31.7 to 33.7

So it looks like the offense trails off and the defense is not as stellar in the second half especially against the better teams. That could be the result of fatigue, foul trouble, adjustments etc.

Scoring is going to be down in most 2nd halfs because they're trucking teams.

Your study will have more validity and better data when we see the Breds play more complete games.

You're 100% correct that the bigger sample size will produce better data, but it can't be lost that 100% of the "tough" games they've played have followed the same script. Outscored 107-59 in the last two 2nd halves; that is not a small amount.

We agree but we need to see more games against really good teams. It may only be against the "elite" teams that this happens so we won't have a big sample size but, as you point out, if it's 100% of the really good teams then we can make valid conclusions.

I'm sure after the last two games, coach Dawn knows what needs to be worked on to take this team forward. I'm confident this will get done.

After this tournament the Breds know they can play with the best in the state. Plenty of time to work the "kinks" out.

Is conditioning the issue for NCC? They looked gassed at the end of the game last night, IMO.

4 games in 5 days w/ limited depth will do that to you. However, that's about the same format as the state tournament if they are able to get to Rupp and then to Sunday.

That makes sense. Sounds like a depth issue more than conditioning then. Even still, if depth is the issue, you'd think conditioning would have to be a focus.

It will come. Sunday night was the first full game they played this month. Then to turn around the next day and play a similar opponent just exposed the same flaw, minus cutting down on turnovers (which is a great sign). Dawn coached teams are nothing if not in shape. Conditioning, if that was the issue in the 2nd halves, will be better soon.

Trailing off in the second half could also be the result of other teams adjusting, especially this early in the year. If I'm a Breds fan, I hope it's something like fatigue that can be fixed and should improve as the year goes on.
