Wireman has tweeted out this morning that the Dixson boys are enrolled at Mingo Central (WV) HS.

Who are these kids and how in the world can they bounce from school to school like this? And to expand on that...how can they bounce from school to school, AND still be eligible to play ball?

With multiple moves I don't know. And I would have to think with each move, "legitimate" becomes more and more questionable. I guess the reason I really posted the question is I'd just like to know HOW they move from place to place like they have. Are the parents involved? Do they have some sort of "guardian" who is hoping to reap some sort of reward a few years down the road through the kid's basketball talents and is facilitating the situation? Just seems very very odd to me.

I figured they'd end up in WV, where they originated. And the folks over there will provide a means for them to flourish there, no doubt.

As far as I know, everything was legit in that regard. I was told the mother of Montrell, the younger cousin, had a job as a restaurant manager in the Bardstown area, and by all accounts it is a stable, two-parent household (I have not met the parents; just relaying what I was told). She must be a very valued employee if her company would allow her another location transfer so soon after arriving in this area.

The older cousin, Dikembe, apparently comes from a very difficult upbringing. I was told that Montrell's mother took him in and they have worked toward instilling more discipline and such in his life. However, it appears the lure of the college scholarship is also prominent in their goals, to the point that has led them to the current situation. The stormy departure at Thomas Nelson, of course, and subsequent "thanks, but no thanks" attitude taken by other 5th Region schools where they inquired about transferring would lead you to believe there's a lot more discipline needed.

 

Both kids are quite talented. There's still time left for Dikembe, but he's got to learn to be a good teammate. I'm wondering if Montrell wouldn't thrive without his cousin around.
