Not sure how good Mitchell is, but nice start for the Breds.

Hoptown/Ft Myers, FL winner next.

Tanner Moeves is having more of an impact than I expected of him. Congrats to him.

LB as always thanks for the updates

LB as always thanks for the updates

The thanks goes to Jenny Schulte and Joe Weyer, that's who I was getting them from. :ylsuper:

here's the bracket......http://kingofthebluegrass.com/2013-KOB-Bracket.pdf

The game against Hoptown will be a much better test. More size than Mitchell and athleticism to go with it.

Hoping for a Newcath Ballard match up in the semi's.

Congrats! Another convincing win for the Breds. Good luck the rest of the tournament. Should be very exciting. Thanks for the updates.

Congrats. Good win at the KOB. Lawnboy13. Thanks to you and "your staff" for the updates.

He shoots it exceptionally well and can finish at the rim with both hands through contact. He is a very nice offensive player.

The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds boys basketball started the King of the Bluegrass Tournament off on the right foot Thursday.

The Thoroughbreds (4-0) defeated the Memphis (Tenn.) Mitchell Tigers, 68-47 at Louisville Fairdale. This marked their first game against a non-Kentucky team this year.

Tanner Moeves led the Thoroughbreds with 19 points. Teammates Drew McDonald and Jake Schulte scored 16 and 12 respectively.

Both teams took 44 shots. NewCath made 27 for 61 percent and Mitchell hit 16 for 36 percent.

The Tigers shot better at the free-throw line making 12-of-15 for 80 percent. The Thoroughbreds hit 11-of-18 for 61 percent.

NewCath continues tournament action Saturday at 4:30 p.m. back in the West Gym. The Thoroughbreds will play either Hopkinsville or Fort Meyers (Fla.).

Hoping for a Newcath Ballard match up in the semi's.

If we get Ballard/NCC and Trinity/PRP in the semifinals, there isn't much in this world that'll be able to keep me away from the West Gym at Fairdale on Sunday evening.

It seems like the teams in the KOB, especially NCC, have really good size this year---or at least one very outstanding big man.
