40 is the player looking at the ball with his right foot on the ground and his left foot in the air.

 

There is no doubt it was a fumble.

And to add on to another thread I still oppose replays for the championship games. Let's speak in hypotheticals since replay at all is hypothetical. Say a replay system was in effect and that call was reversed. Good for Meade County, they win. But what about the team that loses in the semis because of a bad call that could have been reversed? Until it's available for every game played all year long like it is the the NFL and college then it shouldn't be used in just the championship game.

From what I've read here it was on the last drive when Scott scored the winning TD. Had it been called a fumble Meade at worst would have taken the ball with the lead but Meade's kid picked it up and scored so it would have padded their lead.

Meade County has just scored to make it 14 All. Then on this play Scott County fumbled and Meade picked it up and ran it in for a TD. The runner was ruled down. Scott County then went down the field in the last couple of minutes of the game and scored the winning TD.

It was definitely fumble.

Watching it live everybody near me thought it was a fumble as it appeared the ball came out while 40 was still on his feet. Very unfortunate play. The next play Meade got a pass interference call that moved Scott into a short field.

If this fumble reallywould of changed the outcome of the game then my heart goes out to all the Meade County players, fans and coaches. What aq shame that such a big call was blown by the officials which would of changed the outcome of a State Championship.

It would have definitely changed the game. Meade would have had the lead with 3 minutes left. Instead Scott County went on to score leaving Meade less than a minute to go 80 yards.

Spearing on 72?
