December 8, 201312 yr I don't get the hate on OSU. OSU did exactly what they were supposed to do. They played their schedule. Voters put them at #2. Any relief or venting should be aimed at those who voted them that high and not the Bucks team.
December 8, 201312 yr Author In all honesty, I believe that Ohio State is definitely on its way back, it's just not quite there yet. The win streak they had is impressive and would be for any team regardless of the conference they played in. Once the defensive issues get solved, they will be there with the best of the best. :thumb: Absolutely, I can certainly live with them getting beat last night. Year two with UM, his third recruiting class will be in next season. OSU has talent, plenty of it, would take a moron to say they aren't very talented. What they need more of is speed, especially on the defensive side of the ball. With only two Meyer recruiting classes in and to raise to the #2 ranked team in the country is impressive. 24 consecutive wins / 24-1 in two seasons is more impressive, I don't care who you are or where/what conference you play in. To say anything else is ridiculous. OSU lost to the best defensive team in the country. OSU's defense will improve, their offense is already there and that will improve as well.

I have no problem with it, one can debate that. The constant bashing / hating is what is unbelievable, well...not really. Some cover up their own failures by putting others down and that is what is ridiculous.
December 8, 201312 yr Author Coach said he did not play at all during the news conference following the game. :thumb: I guess that he can make that decision without all of the "better than thou" moral police around telling him what's right or wrong and espn commentators and message boards starting threads bashing him for it, uh ? :lol2:
December 8, 201312 yr I know everyone in todays football likes a spread offense. But please tell me why teams line up in shotgun 5-6 yards deep on short yardage situations and run the football? OSU had 4th and 2 but had to run 8 yards to gain 2. call me old fashion but nothing better than seeing a QB get under center and take a snap. Ok I will, you are old fashion. Here is the thing about going under center. Unless you are going to run a QB sneak from under center, or a quick full back dive, then what difference does it make? Think about how far runningback's like up from the QB in the old base I formation when a QB is under center, they typcially line up 7 yards back. So its not like with a QB under center that it is all that much quicker. In fact it takes away the multiple options you have with the spread. In a spread you can play power football, and still have multiple options on a play of a team over plays it. In the spread you actually get an extra blocker if you choose to run QB power.
December 8, 201312 yr OSU has allowed 8, 300-yard passing games past 2 years, after allowing 12 in previous 11 seasons. Yeah I think the the D coaches need spoken with..

This is what I mentioned in the other thread....the defense just doesn't seem ready for the title. That's what leads me to believe that FSU will take it from Auburn, simply because the defense will "slow" down Auburn enough. I may be wrong. But MSU and FSU appeared to have the best defenses most of the season. Pure athleticism in OSU's backfield exposed it, somewhat......FSU has those athletes everywhere right now, with a QB that has a much more accurate arm.
December 8, 201312 yr Congrats to the Spartans on the win. OSU can only hope they get Oregon in the Orange Bowl. Bama could very well beat them by 6TDs plus in the Sugar!

You are right about depth of some Running backs. I just think teams that have the ability to get under center are more physical. I actually think you have just as many options under center and can have more men at the point of attack.
December 8, 201312 yr Would you give me 6 TDs in a gentleman's agreement?I would never give you 6 td's.....BUT, 'Bama's weakness is pass defense, that's not OSU's strong suit, I would think 'Bama beats them by 14 + . . . that being said, I would root for OSU in that matchup...lol

December 8, 201312 yr Hasn't fickell been the DC since 2005?He, from listening to the head coach speak is more in charge of the line, while Combs and another is in charge of the back seven. I look for two of three to be let go after the bowl game.
